+1 for me. Have a strong SWC, a strong and smaller ACC, about 15 bowl games max (maybe 20), be done with it New Years Day.

I agree with this with the exception of Arkansas. I think they care more than the others. They have tradition in football. They just got screwed by Patrino. Off all the schools you named, I think they are the only team willing to fire a coach if they aren't successful within a reasonable time.

Kick out Kentucky, Missouri, and Mississippi State.

Add North Carolina, Virginia, Oklahoma, Texas, and Duke.

Arkansas and South Carolina really haven't added a damn thing to SEC football. Both have them combined for zero national championships, zero conference championships and zero major BCS bowl wins after being added to the SEC. They also haven't had many great out-of-conference wins that has helped out the SEC cause either. Out of the four SEC additions since 1992, Texas A&M is the only school out of the bunch with the potential to become a national power. The SEC could have stuck with ten schools and it wouldn't have affected the football one bit. In fact, it probably would have been enhanced with fewer mediocre football schools dragging down the rest of the conference.

Obviously football gets all the pub. But theres more than one sport. Give me some more basketball schools. I'd love to see UNC added. They'd bring strong basketball and baseball programs.

Warning -- thread hijack....

That Kentucky fan having a conversation w himself for 10 pages in his own hoops thread today was odd.

More power to him & all of the bball fans out there; I just can't relate.

What if we kept 14 and did away with the Championship game? That might lead to Co-Champions every year and result in two SEC teams in the playoffs.

14 teams works if you go to a 6-3 format. in a 6-1-1 or a 6-2-1 its too many teams. Anything over 14 is impossible

Imagine having 16 teams at a 7-1-1 format

Give me two teams out west and move Auburn and Alabama to the east and that keeps all rivalries in tact but we need two good teams to the west or the west just becomes the. LSU show. At least there is parity in the divisions as they stand now.

I believe this thread is just an attempt to encourage pushing Vandy out of the conference. Don't you realize the SEC needs at least one school with academic credibility?

Add FSU and Clemson (this will never happen). Realign the Conference. Clemson Goes East with Auburn. FSU or Florida goes West with Mizzou.

I'm an Ag, so my opinion doesn't count; but I think Vanderbilt is great for the conference.
That said, Vandy isn't the only SEC school w academic credibility.

If we get to 16 then we need 3 divisions.

West A&M, LSU, ARK, MU
East UF, UGA, USC, UNC
Central UA, AU, MSU, OM
North UK, UT, V, VT

I think a 4-2-2 would work right?

Honestly meant no disrespect. I know that UF and A&M have real academic tradition. It's just frustrating that no one recognizes Vandy's value. We've got a great baseball team and football is on the rise. We are not Tulane!
