I still curse and yell at the TV during games (this is not taking things too seriously, it is the natural reaction to watching a Johnny Jones or Les Miles-led team). But I'm not one to dwell on losses much more than the hour or so after the game.

Same. I don't get paid to worry about LSU football. That's the coaches job.

When Alabama lost to Ole Miss last year. I got really upset for like an hour, went to bed, woke up the next day, saw the sports media's disproportionate response, and realized how ridiculous it was. I'm convinced my grade in a pretty important class had been suffering to that point because of all the time I wasted reading about Alabama football and watching shite about them. Once I got that out of the way and stopped caring as much, I got a 93 in the class.

probably 2013.

From middle school all the way through several years ago, after a loss I would avoid human interation the rest of the weekend. Only reason I'd speak to people til about Wednesday was because I had to go to work or school.

After the 12 SECCG I realized I put way too much importance in something I have no control over. It's still important, very much so, but I don't let it affect me in quite that way anymore. Nowadays, after we lose I digest it and am fine the next day. Still upset we lost of course, but my "normal life" isn't affected like it used to be. Not worth getting that bent out of shape over something like that.

It's been a slow transition for me. As a hogs fan I just assumed that losing constantly was the reason I was becoming detached. Basketball losses haven't bothered me since I was 18 or so. Football it was more like 24. after a tough football loss I still want to throw the tv out the window at first but within 15 mins I'm cool.

once you're more than 5 or so years older than everyone on the team, I think it can't help but take a dip. I'm still mostly the same as I always was come Saturday but it doesn't really impact my mood or anything the other 6 days of the week like it used to.

On a side note I still say to this day the Alabama-LSU game in DV in 2008 is one of the top 5 loudest games I've been to. The place went insane when we blocked that field goal at the end of regulation. I thought the football gods were going to throw us a bone. jarrett lee had other plans

I was at that game, and I would say that was the culmination of my over-the-top fandom. That game was tons of fun, but overall pretty bad for me as a person.

that was my first game to ever get drunk prior to kickoff. I used to take pride in watching every game sober to remember every detail. By November of that year it was time to hit the bottle I then understood why people drank prior.

that was perfect gameday weather, and I vividly remember the whole day was near perfect until kickoff. Fuggg does time fly by

I'm a Bama fan so I'm not sure that this question applies. Because I will frick up a tree or rub my nads against a drunkard's face as the circumstances dictate.

Then, now, and going forward.

I have never been a part of a fanbase that has a legit shot at a national championship. Tonight is the first night I ever have the chance, and it doesn't really seem that important.

And as a Viking fan, I have learned to take some bad L's.

The Dooley years coupled with Titans football forced me to mellow out.

When they gave me a scholarship, coincidentally that's when I started rooting for them.

I'm not too far out of college and I'd say I'm still in transition. The end of the 2011 season is when I realized I had a problem. Each loss has been a little easier to deal with.

Im probably older than 98% of posters here (VS be careful of saying bad things to an elder )

Having watched some pretty bad losses...0-51 to UGA, a winless 0-10-1 season...etc etc it was always extremely painful and I wouldnt want to be around other humans for a while. Losing games was like going to a funeral of a dearly loved relative...except almost more painful.

Always had a good sense of humor to help eventually and I would be optimistic the next game. It wasnt til I reached 60 yrs old that I had to slow down and I couldnt travel to games as often because of health reasons. Now my large screen get a seriously screaming at it things dont go well.

BUT I try to never get mad at players personally (although Treon pushed it a few times ) and I defend coaches. Folks who blame coaches for Ga Southern have no clue how depleted our team was...the game before we took 59 players to USC and that included 4 walk on special teamers as an example. It is the kneejerk reaction to an L.
When I hear the Gator fight songs I get goosebumps still.

Honestly, when we came into the SEC, Football was a nice distraction from Basketball. Then, there were the "bad" years for both.
I turned my attention to women, and the NFL at that point. I still get excited when we have a good run, but life is a puzzle with many pieces.

Once I had a kid, house, job, etc.

of course, that all started about the same time Saban showed up, so not losing too often has made the whole thing easier to take. 2000 sucked arse.

I used to take all major sports very seriously. I had a favorite MLB team, NBA, etc. I used to watch anything Bama related. When I was 18 I realized that my expectations ere too high. I was too loyal. I wanted all my teams to be the best. Unrealistic expectations. I was just too angry all the damn time. So I let most of it go. I considered it disloyalty at the time. It took a while to accept that. However there is one sport and one team I would never leave. Alabama football. As time goes on I don't have as much time to obsess over it. Every year I still dream and hope of a natty. I am usually pissed off for a few days after the first loss of a season. When I was younger it would piss me off for a few weeks sometimes. It's easier to take now because one loss isn't the end of the world. I get less insane about this game as I get older, but I hope I always have this game high in my priorities list. It's a family/friend issue as well. I still enjoy the weekly dance of figuring out where and who am I watching the game with. Hell I have been watching the games with the same people for over 20 years.

Edit : My lack of interest in sports grows. I didn't watch a single second of the final 4. I think it's been since about 1987 since that happened. Lol

You can't take it very seriously if you're an Auburn fan. Just enjoy the wave of ups and downs. We've gone from the bottom to the top and top to the bottom in football.

I'm going to just enjoy seeing some basketball talent here finally when Bruce gets these next few classes in.
