When did you start taking your team's winning and losing less seriously?

For me, as an LSU fan, it was definitely the 2008 season, Jarrett Lee's freshman season. Before that season I took LSU football entirely too serious. Of course I was in high school, but witnessing every single one of Lee's 15 pics (and 7 PIC SIXES, frick) in person gave me perspective that I need to relax and not take it too seriously. Also watching a bunch of grown men boo Lee was an eye opener to just how batshit crazy so many sports fans are (LSU is not an outlier here, let's just get that out of the way.).

I know this is a prime spot to tout how you've never taken your favorite team's outcomes too seriously, but we've all been there before and definitely still know plenty of adults who still to this day have epic melts Now I just enjoy the tailgating and road trips first and foremost. I just drink a little faster and call for Peveto's head after games these days

When I stopped working in college athletics and it did not determine my pay or quality of life.

After I moved to Birmingham, AL and after having lived for 3 years among Gumps/Bammers/UA fans I realized that I did not take my team's winning and losing seriously at all.

Apparently, I'm normal.

A couple years after finishing college.

Also, when you're the fan of a school that has so many underachieving teams, you almost are forced to let go and just not care as much about the wins and losses.

When I had kids as well.
The only reason I still go to games as much is to take the kid and experience it together.
Win or lose you realize it doesn't really matter to your kid about the outcome.
It's the experience.
Once he's old enough he can have my tickets and I can stay home and watch them on TV.
the cost is what bothers me now! Concessions and parking are ridiculous, and that's after paying for tickets and donation fees.
To me, I would rather use that money on vacations with family and it's the reason I only go to half the games anymore due to cost

I am about to graduate grad school.

When i was in school i felt a big pressure that LSU has to win now.

Now i sorta just have the rest of my life for them to win. No end sight. I feel like that will be different

See I got over 1/9/12 shockingly fast, because that was ridiculously young LSU football team. I also got so obliterated that I didn't really watch much of the game, nor will I ever.

The real melt was when the badger got kicked off the team right before the 2012 season. I knew then and there LSU wasn't going to win it all without him and that 2011 was our shot.

After the 2009 season... Basically when I finished up my undergrad. Before then, it basically controlled my life. Now it's just a fun hobby. There are a lot more important things in life than college football. If you had told me that during the 2008 or 2009 seasons, I would have called you a terrible person and an awful fan of whatever school you pull for

I'll let you know when it happens.

I'm not as attached to it as I was as a kid, but I'm still irrationally and obstinately obsessed with football.

That 2008 LSU season was like a horror film until I realized it's just a game.

On a side note I still say to this day the Alabama-LSU game in DV in 2008 is one of the top 5 loudest games I've been to. The place went insane when we blocked that field goal at the end of regulation. I thought the football gods were going to throw us a bone. jarrett lee had other plans

Probably after the Notre Dame game. Alabama has become so dominant that anything less than a complete blowout is treated like a loss and some of the fun is gone for me. I love what Saban has done for the program but it won't bother me that much when we return to planet Earth.
