Alabama
Notre Dame
USC
Oklahoma
Nebraska

This really is a difficult list put together. A lot of great programs, and so many different ways and criteria that can be used to rank them.

I would rank the Top 5 like so:

1. Alabama
2. Notre Dame
3. Oklahoma
4. Ohio State
5. Southern California

Nebraska and Michigan would be my #6 and #7.

I know this is an off season topic, but what do you think the top 5 programs of all time would look like today?

This is the offseason for everyone but Alabama and Clemson fans.

Dan discussed Alabama and stated that basically they weren't considered a top 5 program because they had become irrelevant

Seems like Dan Patrick had a hard time understanding the difference between "all time" and "currently".

You know the routine, when you winnin' they grinnin'
All up in your face, like they was wit' you from the beginnin'
But on the flipside, when you're washed up like a riptide
Fools clown 'bout how you slipped and let shite slide

Dan Patrick is probably the same kind of dipshit who wouldn't list Tennessee in the top 10 all-time programs today.

due to how bad they've been over the last ten years. A lot of football fans are retarded and have the memory of a goldfish.

But that's pretty important in college football, wouldn't you say? A 16 and 17 year old recruit will only have a conscious memory of a team from the previous 8-10 years.

We run in to this in Arkansas all the time. There are a bunch of old 40-60 year old fans who can't comprehend how Arkansas isn't in everyone's top 10 destination jobs. They say "I mean, from 1960-1980, we were a force to be reckoned with! Those kids and young coaches need to respect that and come play here..." Completely forgetting that the current batch of recruits weren't even alive BEFORE Houston Nutt was coach of Arkansas.

I mean, how insane is that? To us in our 30s, it feels like the 90s were just yesterday. But a 16 or 17 year old recruit wasn't alive before Tennessee won in 1998.

I love the history of sports. But it's as an outside observer. If I'm a coach or athlete, I probably don't care much about who won the 1977 Orange Bowl, or how many claimants there are to a national title from the 1960s. I want to know who is going to get me on TV, award shows, and to the draft TODAY.

Michigan still has more wins than any other college team, right? Hard not to put them in that mix, maybe swap out tOSU?

I don't know how you can't include Oklahoma on the list, because they've pretty much dominated in every decade since WWII, with the exception of the 60's and 90's somewhat.

Oklahoma is obnoxiously consistent.

You might could make an argument for Notre Dame, though IMHO you'd be wrong. USC... I don't think so.

Kinda surprised I haven't seen this link yet: https://www.cfbdatawarehouse.com/data/rankings/all_time_team_rankings.php. You might not like their methodology, but at least they DO HAVE a methodology that is quantifiable in nature and even to all teams.

1. Alabama
2. Notre Dame
3. USC
4. Oklahoma
5. Ohio State
6. Michigan
7. Texas
8. Nebraska
9. LSU
10. Tennessee
11. Florida
12. Georgia
13. Auburn
20. Texas A&M
23. Arkansas
28. Mississippi
34. Missouri
41. Vanderbilt
42. Miss St
47. Kentucky
61. South Carolina
