His corners look better than they are because they're lined up with other 5* all over the field. He really doesn't do a very good job of coaching up the corners. Dre and Milliner left with the same skills they came in with.

Thanks for proving my point. When these guys don't have Saban coaching them, they suffer greatly.

Might want to check your own. Many references Saban DBs, past and present.

That is quite honestly the dumbest thing that I have ever read here.

we have a kicker that looked like he could've hit FGs from over 50 yards out.

Just don't let him try one from 57 yards.

A lot of new players - will take some time. The talent is there - just gotta develop them.

Jackson- bust
Arenas- never a top tier corner, close to bust
DreK- bust
Milliner- looking like a bust so far as well

Jackson is still a starting CB in the NFL - not a bust

Milliner is already a starting CB in the NFL - not a bust

Kirkpatrick appears to be a 3rd CB in Cincy right now. To be determined if he is going to step up. Injured to start his career in 2012. He played well second half of last year in Cincy.

Interesting you bring up Arenas in a discussion about Saban's inability to coach DBs. Arenas was a lightly recruited 3 star "Athlete" out of HS. Saban helped develop him to a very good college CB. I'd say Saban clearly maximized Arenas' ability to play DB.

A lot of people really showing their ignorance in an attempt to pile on this idea that Saban can't coach DBs. He has consistently had one of the best (arguably THE best) defenses passing and rushing in the country since 2008. Alabama is vulnerable just like any team, but you guys are reaching.

The key to stopping the HUNH is the players being smarter about what to do without being told what to do every step of the way (notice a school with smart players have the most success defending it). But that's not the Saban way. His system is about putting more talent on the field and outmanning teams. It's why his players aren't great when they play teams that require them to think a lot.

Some of the recent problems are because the inability to develop CBs.

So you're saying LSU has the smartest players in the SEC? Seems legit. Now that you mention it, Vandy has had a ton of success against the HUNH. Doesn't really say much about the smarts of Auburn's players after their performances against HUNH teams the last couple years.

Or the fact that multiple NFL teams have lauded Bama players for being really knowledgeable on defense already because they played at Alabama.

However, this new group is just that. It's new. It's talented as hell, but it'll take game experience for them to come around.

Yep. Good thing Alabama's loss was this early in the season. Plenty of time to get back in the race.

It still takes talent but having the ability to think faster and a better understanding of the game helps you more than talent against the HUNH. LSU's players are better taught. If this is not the case then there is no excuse for Bama to look average against the top offenses they play. They have more talent than anyone. Including LSU and Stanford.

Milliner played safety and RB in high school. and I assure you he didnt learn much at all from Coach Foshee back in HS.

its so painfully obvious Nicky was bitching about HUNH and wanting it slowed down b/c he has no earthly idea how to defend it.

And maybe one day a team that runs the HUNH from the SEC will win a national title, but I'm not gonna hold my breath till then.
