OK here's the rest of your post (which I read BTW)

A lot of it also had to do with Trickett and his WRs making some incredible plays.

It is what it is. I expect us to get better, but we shall see.

What part of the rest of your post makes my "You do realize that there are passes that can't be defended against right?" irrelevant?

Those are just the corners and when Landon Collins is taken in the first this year, that will make 3 first round safeties. Saban has never had a problem with them until this season and middle to end of last season. It'll be fixed soon.

Reading comprehension > you

We're not talking about the past season, we're talking about this season.

Anybody who says DBs are Nick Saban's specialty are fooling themselves. Even Nick's best corners and safeties compared to the rest of his defenses have been subpar outside of Mark Barron and Demarcus Milliner.

He coached defensive backs for the first 17 years of his career and played defensive back. That's why he is considered a "guru".

Okay

I obvious realize that there are passes that can't be defended, seeing as how I implied with the second part of my post that Trickett and Co. were just plain better on a lot of plays, which had a lot to do with it.

I just named one. But if anyone has then you would think someone who is supposed to be a defensive mastermind could at least copy them.

Our hearts weren't in it because it wasn't a BCS championship game.

And this season Alabama is inexperienced and young. Previous defenses went through similar issues. Look at 2010. It had issue nearly every game on the back end. But went on to be a strength of the 2011 and 2012 defenses. Regardless, I would be happy with stopping any team to the tune of 16 offensive points, a 35% conversion rate on 3rd downs, and 28 rushing yards on 24 attempts.

Didn't even know how to back peddle. Struggled heavily getting used to NFL game. Considered a bust

Also struggled a lot his first two seasons.

You left out 1st rounder Mark Barron, who was one of the worst strong safeties in NFL his first two years. Missed a lot of tackles and gave up the most yards too.

Even Milliner had trouble adjusting to the NFL.

It's pretty obvious to most that Bama DB's were not very well prepared for NFL. Strange considering that many claimed Saban was the best at doing just that.

Haha could very well be the best out of the group and Collins isn't a 1st round lock. Many players get 1st round ratings only to drop once the draft comes around.

A lot of defensive players from Bama leave college being considered the top dogs, best of the best at their respective position. The majority have struggled living up the hype.

Ah. But if we copy someone else, then we have to toss out OUR scheme. You can't just have 2 full play books. My only point is that not many defenses are supremely proficient at defending against a hunh/spread that is in sync. It will get better over time, I'm sure.

At some point, you have to take the game to them instead of letting them dictate it.

Completely agree.

They had a great gameplan. Which is worrisome because they knew exactly what Bama would do on D. I saw absolutely no difference in the approach on defense against WVU as I did against AU or Oklahoma. No adaptation at all.

Completely agree with this, too.

The blue-print to beat us has been established. Teams with the time and talent to implement it will beat us on an increasingly more frequent basis.

Jackson- bust
Arenas- never a top tier corner, close to bust
DreK- bust
Milliner- looking like a bust so far as well

His corners look better than they are because they're lined up with other 5* all over the field. He really doesn't do a very good job of coaching up the corners. Dre and Milliner left with the same skills they came in with.
