1. 96 UF
2. 08 UF
3. 95 UF
4. 01 UF - Maybe the most talented team Spurrier ever had, but they blew it against Tennessee and Auburn
5. 06 UF

That 06 team was nasty, too bad they got screwed against AU and kinda beat themselves against us.

2006 LSU was not as good as most LSU fans seem to "remember." I especially hate how people use future NFL rosters as a proxy for how good a team was. First of all, many great college players are busts in the NFL and some go undrafted altogether (hello Heisman-winner Jason White). Then you have decent college players who later develop into NFL stars.

Great college teams aren't about just stacking rosters with talent and putting them on the field. For evidence, look no further than 2010 Alabama - our most talented team in the last four years that also ended up with the worst record.

The 1961, 1962, 1969 LSU teams were fantastic and are unrecognized by many young LSU fans. All three were NC caliber

I will say it till I am blue in the face. Alabama's most talented team was 2010. Not close. I think Saban would agree. I also think that season was the worst coaching job he has done in his career. I think Saban would agree as well.

He isn't that far off.
2010 Bama had the entire 2011 defense, PLUS a first rd and Heisman winning RB ( Ingram), a first rd WR( Julio), first rd DE Marcel, and a senior and national champ qb. The 2010 crimson tide was by far Bama's most talented team since Saban got there.

2011 was Alabama's best year, and it was LSU's best as well. Unfortunately the distribution of great teams is not equitable, and in 2011 you had what were probably the two best SEC teams of the BCS era. Another stacked year that comes to mind is 2005 with Texas and USC. Either of those teams - just like Bama and LSU in 2011 - would have won the title in most other years.

Na. 2003 LSU would beat 2011 LSU. 2003 LSU defense was one for the ages. I think 9 of the starting 11 on defense, started in the NFL.

Our 06 team would have raped our '10 and '11 squads.

Man, that was a really fun arkansas team to watch. I feel like Marcus Monk was at Arkansas for 8 years. The guy always had a nice game against LSU

I get it. You don't want to admit 2011 LSU was your best team because they lost the title game. I understand that, and I would probably do the same. But you - like all LSU fans - know in your heart of hearts that that year was your best team.

Most great teams have some scares and get some lucky breaks on the field. LSU and Alabama had no scares and needed no lucky breaks that year. They demolished every team they played except each other.

Bama did not have the necessary player leadership in 2010. They were not as mature a team as the last two have been. They had just come off their 1st national title in 17 years, they weren't mature enough to handle the success going into 2010. That was understandable. Talent wise, Bama is at this point the best they've ever had.

No way 1984 is not in the top 5. I have them in the top 3 after 96 and 08.
