It doesn't matter because Saban will never retire
from Alabama. I have read it 50/11 times on this board.

We'll worry about that in 10 years.

Just to be a smartass, I say they copy what LSU did when Saban left, and go hire the Oklahoma St coach.

And actually, that might not be a half bad idea-

Mike Gundy is doing some pretty good things at OSU, especially considering he's got the Sooners in his backyard. He's still pretty young, he's got a strong offensive game (and let's face it, you won't like any other defense after you've had Saban's), and he'd probably jump at the chance to go from 3rd best program in the 3rd best league, to the alpha-dog in the big conference.

Don't get too excited, I'm merely stating the historical facts; just like USC out in the west.

Doesn't mean you don't face a shitload of top-flight teams who would rejoice in running up the score on you if you slip up; in fact watch the way Oregon and Stanford etc get up for USC, even when they're down. All this Saban stretch has done is re-ignite the passion to beat Bama, after it had dwindled the past decade. And for that, you might end up paying: Go help you if you go 6-6, because teams will still be celebrating every single time.

Why not? He certainly handles himself in every big game he has ever coached in.

did alabama even have a team between 1997 and 2007? that there is a full decade of nothingness. coaches like bear and saban come along rarely, and if you truly believe that the cyclical nature of football in the sec will not revisit alabama then you are in for a sad glum time in the coming years.

1997-2007

UGA - 2 SEC titles, 0 national titles
Bama - 1 SEC title, 0 national titles

Exaggerate much?

Bama won the SEC in 1999. Even in our worst decade, we can win one.

How many UGA got?
