This is obviously the right answer. I am just thinking hypothetical 2014. Dabo is a hell of a recruiter with in/out of state ties.

I disagree. Kirby would be a smooth transition.

I'm quoting you, but replying to the last three posters.

Believe me, I'm not saying Kirby is good or bad. I'm just saying there's no way his first head coaching gig will be at Alabama.

No way the PTB will ever sign off on it.

I also think Dabo Swinney would be an option if he continues the success.

A year ago, every 'Bama fan would have laughed at this one. Many still do. But if he can take Clemson up the chain, so to speak, and cuts out a little bit of the clown act he displays, that might not be a bad choice.

What about Chris Petersen

He wouldn't be able to handle the limelight and he wouldn't come here for $10M. He's made it patently clear he enjoys where he's at, making his own bed, well away from the glare of the spotlight. He's already predisposed about being in the "big leagues", his fate would be self-fulfilling if he took a big name job.

Dabo isn't even in the top 15 of coaches right now and I can't see him getting there in one year. I'd look at either of the Harbaughs, Gary Patterson, David Shaw, and if Saban retired tomorrow I'd want Charlie Strong.

First off, that is a flame. And I have yet to see anyone outside of some conspiracy nuts on auburn boards make any claims that Saban is committing major violations. There has yet to be any major media outlet make any type of accusations of major rules violations against Saban's program.

It ain't a flame dude. It is the truth. If you really do not believe bama (boosters) is giving players a ton of extra benefits and could get put on probation if one or some turned on them, you are CLUELESS.

Really? A tinfoil hat? Because I think bama does not run a clean program that could have NCAA problems at some point in the future?

Seriously???

Not a bad idea. I'm just waiting for him to be tested besides Fla last year.

The dude is a hard nosed coach and thats Bama's style. If Muschamp proves himself at UF I wouldn't say no to considering him either.

If Smart is still around, I think they'll give him the chance to keep the "process" going as well as can be done. If that doesn't work out, they'll go out and throw a ton of money at the best available coach. Hopefully we've learned our lesson on going after mediocre coached with Bama ties.

this is the most likely scenario

Good point. Dabo is kind of like an inbred Shula.

Dabo may be a decent coach but I don't trust him enough to give him the reigns to Alabama. He was a WR coach before he tripped backwards into a HC position.

And what about AU? Spotless, I presume? Do you think AU has no boosters providing extra benefits (ie cash) to players and recruits?
