If it's a fluke to go to the national championship 3 years after you last played in it then Bama fans should know that we'll lately

Whether or not Malzhan "has been figured out"

Offense was not the issue at all last season.

But this will probably be his best "post Cam" team from a talent standpoint.

Last year's team was more talented and a lot more experienced than this years team. They just had a terrible schedule, a fluke loss, and a defense (which was never great in the first place) that for whatever completely collapsed the last month of the season.

Not sure what this even means. The "Prayer at Jordan-Hare" is named that instead of "The perfectly executed call by an offensive genius" for a reason. The play call was great. You had a guy running wide open across the middle for the needed yards for a first down. Your QB chunked it into triple coverage, one UGA guy gets in the way of another UGA guy who was in position to intercept it. Louis showed tremendous concentration to catch the deflection, but the play was certainly not a result of anything other than a fluke (see Bluegrass Miracle, 2002, for similar example).

The Kick-Six was an amazing play, but it was also the only time in CFB history that a missed kick has been returned for TD to win a game (missed FG only returned for TD 4 times in CFB in last 50+ years).

AU's 2013 team was special. So was their 2010 team. That said, when the poster claimed that many view AU's 2013 success as "flukey" it is for the reasons outlined above combined with AU's seeming inability to string together consecutive stellar seasons over the past quarter century +.

Malzahn is a average 7 win coach.
I realize this is just a weak sauce troll attempt, but I'm curious as to how you came to this opinion.

Seeing as how, in his 14 seasons as a head coach in highschool, and 9 seasons at the major college level (6 seasons as an offensive coordinator and 3 as a head coach), he's never once been part of a program that won fewer than 8 games.

Pruitt? 7 points for an offense averaging 38 up to that point ... That's a pretty good day for UGA, and bad for Gus' offense.

And yet Malzahn's offense scored 31 on a more talented Pruitt defense just 10 months before.

In other words, jury's still out on Pruitt v. Malzahn, IMO.

It would seem to be a lot harder for a Coach to motivate his players when the media is constantly telling them how great they are.

Somebody is gonna be hyped. Might as well be Auburn. But once the ball is kicked, the hype means nothing.

You should

2 plays=/=season

If you want to say it does, then pretty much every team has a fluke of a season including bama's recent NC's

Flukes happen, sometimes for you, sometimes against you.

I mean, A&M's win over Auburn last year was pretty damn flukey.

They've gotten worse each season under Malzahn. DC's in the SEC have figured out his gimmick offense. Do they think Muschamp will make them elite again? When your defense is on the field 90% of the game it won't matter who your DC is.

They will win 7-8 games again. Without Cam Newton and/or being the luckiest team in NCAA history, Malzahn is a average 7 win coach.

Well Malzahn has been there two years so not a lot of time to really see a trend. I am picking them to win the SEC too and the reason is I think the skill positions are going to be really good. Everything I have seen of Jeremy Johnson impresses me. Defensively it is going to be a really solid group that returns a lot of starters. However, most importantly, is that they get UGA and Bama at home. Bama has a brutal schedule so I don't think they win at UGA and at AU.

Jury may still be out, but over the last 6 qts against Pruitt, Malzahn scored 17 points. I would say Pruitt adjusted pretty well after a rough first half of the national championship.

It is kind of tough to say Pruitt figured out Makzahn in 2013 when Auburn scored 10 points on their final two possessions and drove inside FSU's 5 yard line both times. He obviously did stop Makzahn last year

Would it have been a less fluky season if we'd won in overtime?

I know you rarely ever post about your own team, players or coaches.....but damn you should know how to spell your own head coaches name Phan.
