ehhh, I would say it's about 40-60 right now.
It'll be close. They have hard games coming up 3 vs. Vandy and 1 vs. Indiana, but these are also really good RPI boosters.
They also have the final series against Mizzou who they should have no trouble with.

Alabama is not very good and will be at home come post season. Florida is only 2 games above .500 overall.
Overall, I actually do not see a series win for State that makes me think they are one of the top 16 teams in the nation that deserve a host spot. As I stated in the op, their is one more opportunity for that.
South Carolina has that in winning at LSU. Arkansas has that by sweeping at South Carolina and being 10-2 in SEC road games.
As of now, I just don't see it for State.

Well I don't either, that's why I said we must go 4-2 in our last 6 games. 17 wins with our RPI and SOS gets us a host. I really think we will go 4-2 in that stretch
16 wins would require winning some in the SEC tourney.

Another possible factor that could seal the deal at the end for State.
attendance = $$$
Starkville > Arkansas

If it was based solely on the eye test, Arkansas should get a host before Miss St., but the selection committee loves RPI and SOS.
If it was based solely on eye test, conference record, over all reacord, and head to head record. Arky is a no brainer over MSU. Arky is just better in ever aspect.

You done gone and brought up attendance

Both teams have attractive ballparks with high attendance I don't think they'll look at that as a deciding factor.
Nobody is considering the fact Arkansas isn't the only team we are competing with for a host spot. The MSU USC series may come down to which of those 2 will host.

So RPI and SOS aren't aspects?

I do t have numbers in front of me, but I would wager Arkansas has drawn more on average this year.
Besides, attendance means dick these days. UConn, UCLA, among others are a couple I can think of that prove that theory wrong. Arkansas got shipped 2 hours west to Norman a few years back when we had a chance to host and their ballpark is crap.

You really need to get off this RPI kick.
Good lord. Kentucky has a decent RPI but has been horrible in conference play outside of a series win over State. Florida has a solid RPI but is only 2 games above .500 overall. Auburn is horrendous but has a top 50 RPI.

An SEC team that wins 20 games, is going to host. 9/10 times, an SEC team that wins 19 games in league play, is going to host.
Again, you might as well be arguing that Florida, Kentucky, Alabama, State, are all better teams than Arkansas just because their RPI is higher, which any logical college baseball can knows is not true.

That's all fine and great, but this isn't a normal year for the SEC though because 2 teams are on pace to break the previous conference record that was set in 2000.
20 wins is nice, but finishing third gives the committee a reason to look at other factors. Like I said, I think Arkansas is a better quality team to host, but it can be argued that Mississippi St. has a better resume as of now.
If you can't see where I'm coming from then there is really no point in arguing it.

Mississippi State may have fewer SEC wins than Arkansas, but we also don't have the worst 3 sec teams on our schedule (uga tenn mizzou )
