I don't really care about RPI. Splitting hairs - I'm talking about who matches up best vs. East State U in a Regional or Super Regional.

Who has the best chance of overcoming a 1-1 start for example. Because anyone can beat any team on a given a day - and it's very hard for even a 1-seed to recover.

AU's OOC schedule was not bad enough to be hurting the RPI the way it is at the moment.

your OOC series have been against George Washington (#195), Holy Cross (#224), Lipscomb (#181), and Presbyterian (#175) and they were all at home.

That's pretty bad

RPI is bullshite.

Nah, it's a solid method to rank. Perfect? No, but good.

Heading into this weekend AU has played 1 game against the RPI 200.

3 actually. A 3 games series vs RPI 222 Holy Cross.

Arkansas is 9-0 against RPI 200 or worse and lost the series to AU

7-0

and they are still ahead of AU?

Yes, they are.

quote:

Only one other team (UF) has played 1 or fewer RPI 200 teams in the SEC

UF is the only one. USCe has only played 2 so they're close.

(AU swept UF if I remember correctly)

Correct. But 3 games = 6.5% of the games played so far.

Its pretty crazy that going into the Bama series AU knows the RPI is going down no matter what happens.

That is a real bummer. It's too bad only Auburn is forced to play bad conference teams.

quote:

Even if we win 2/3 against Bama and are still most likely tied for first in SEC our RPI would suggest we are a bubble team.

RPI is one thing the committee looks at. An RPI in the low 30s usually isn't on the bubble unless there are some other major factors. Leading the SEC isn't one of them.

50% of the RPI is SOS. Auburn's OOC SOS is 123rd.

Not sure why spike is getting bent out of shape over this one. We had an idea our rpi was going to suck coming into the year but we also didn't schedule to have a stellar rpi. We scheduled to get wins to reach a regional which was the goal coming into this year. Auburn has overachieved everyone's predictions will still 10 regular season games to go. If we win the regular season or tournament titles we are a national seed. If we don't we will probably just be a regular host.

RC might have done the same at A&M. We lost our top 8 hitters, 2 weekend starters, and 2 dominant bullpen arms. We were picked to finish 2nd in the west, but I'm not sure why. We seem to be hitting out stride now and wish we didn't schedule too soft.

Y'all are also in a little different spot than Auburn. Your coach has been there for 10 years whereas Butch had only been at Auburn for 16 months. Auburn also had 22 new faces. Which is a ton.

For sure. I think I've already posted on here that Butch deserves coach of the year. The dbag Galloway left Auburn in a shite situation and Butch has things rolling quickly.

It's called being loaded with young talent. Shewmake is on his way to becoming the best baseball player ever to wear an Aggie uniform.

Really, that seems to be irrelevant.

But it isn't. UFs rpi really hasn't moved much, even after AU swept them. Look where it's at.

Not really it is a computer matrix that is not set out to screw anyone....you put the numbers and it generates a number that is placed among the teams to get your ranking. As others have pointed out lack of true road OOC games and weak OOC games at home to open the season.

Of course Miss State with more conference wins than anyone else would naturally be last on the list. Not saying we will win the conference but it smells a lot like last year - when we won the Sec championship and same people said we would suck. Amazing how that worked out.

And no offense to Auburn, you guys have a very good team this year. But suddenly you are experts on college baseball. I don't recall many times Auburn has been great in baseball. Don't take that the wrong way but this is not exactly normal territory for you.

Not LSU. Given their remaining schedule they'll have to do some work just to aualify for a regional
