Also, I have a thought if people want to chime in:

By and large, I think LSU is rivalry-proof. Most of their "rivalries", such as with Bama and Auburn, come because they typically field very good teams and are high-stake games.

But I think culturally (and I think it's cool), they're so unique within the SEC that the concept of a heated rivalry between equals just doesn't fit with them. They are kinda always doing their own thing down on the bayou and I dig it.

I'll give off my knees and stop blowing, but I think their lack of an alpha rivalry is nothing to be ashamed of.

That said,

Arkansas/LSU

:rivalry:

Honestly LSU/auburn is not getting enough love IMO. Not only is it one of the most competitive and quirky (earthquake game, interception game, barn burner, cigar game etc) but since 2001, this game has produced the sec west champion 6 times and the sec champion 5 times and the national champion 3 times. That's unbelievable.

ETA: also produced 1 undefeated shoulda been in the nc game.

Yeah, Auburn-LSU has been fantastic for the last twenty years or so...I just didn't include it in my list b/c with Auburn-Bama and Auburn-UGA I figured I'd seem like I was just being a homer.

Same reasoning I didn't mention it.

After UGA and Bama, it's definitely the biggest game of the season to me. Super competitive

As a neutral fan, there isn't any series I've enjoyed more over the past decade than LSU/Auburn. Don't think it has the history to be considered one of the best rivalries, but it has certainly been extremely exciting.

On a National Level The Most Highly touted is the UGA vs UF (WLCP) but the best is AU vs UGA or Bama vs UT.

This is the game I look forward to the most besides bama. It always seems to be a hard hitting close game with something unusual happening. Not to mention its in two of the best stadiums/atmospheres in the nation, not some nuetral site

The first SEC game I ever attended was this past year's LSU-Auburn game. Let's just say I was not disappointed. I'm from Big 10 country (not OSU, Michigan, Penn. St.) and I LOVED the passion and atmosphere. God I wish I could experience that every Saturday. For a big football fan, the SEC is sick!!

Are we talking about true rivalries or conference rivalries? The only two true rivals are BAMA/AU and STATE/OM. A true rivalry was there from the beginning and not one made up after a competitive series

Bama-Tenn and AU-UGA are true rivalries. AU UGA is the oldest rivalry in the SEC

For me it is UA vs UT I dont give a rats arse hair about AU, they might as well be in Georgia. I live a 6 hour drive from Auburn but only 6 mils from Tennesse.

I've heard/read quotes from players on both teams who say this is always the hardest hitting game of the season.

That was definitely apparent for several years, but I don't think the game can make that claim over the past couple of years. Hopefully AU's D gets back to the point where this game returns to the hard hitting battle it has the reputation for.
