Texas more southern than any state not named Hawaii or Florida. We're about as west as we are east. I'd say it makes sense for Texas.

Damn you're retarded. State has won double the SEC titles as Ole Miss in the Big 3 men's sports, and our women's basketball team is, of course, way better. State has always been the bigger school. Ole Miss counts UMC in Jackson to make it close. State has more fans also. What State fan fricked your wife?

See you in court.

I'd love to own 1/14th of the SEC Newtwork while collecting checks in the B1G.

Not really. Mizzou may have the smallest following of any SEC team sans Vandy. People in that state, and many at the school itself don't give a shite about college athletics. They really don't bring much to the table in terms of tv viewership.

The most basic cable package on Charter and AT&T both come with the SEC network. Because of this, the SEC doesn't care if people in KC and STL watch Mizzou as long as they can sell their network to Charter & AT&T.

And that gives the SEC network another 4.5 million people in 2 metro areas. There's always going to be a big enough demand with those numbers.

Also it's still the state school and they don't have as big a following as an Alabama, Georgia, LSU etc. but it's still pretty big.

You can hate Mizzou but don't just start saying stupid shite.

This will soon change though. Once cable dies, the number of viewers will matter a lot more than markets.

Are you dumb or something? Part of the bylaws you signed to get into this conference clearly state that you can be voted out at any time. You have no legal standings if it happened.

quote:

3.1 MEMBERSHIP, TERMINATION, SUSPENSION AND DUES
*3.1.1 Number of Members. The number of members of the Conference shall be set by the Chief Executive Officers.
[Revised 5/30/91]
*3.1.2 Granting of Membership. Membership may be granted by invitation of the Conference at a regular or called
meeting. A three-fourths vote of members is required to extend an invitation for membership. [Revised 5/30/91]
*3.1.3 Suspension of Membership. Two-thirds of the membership may vote to suspend a member at any time, either
indefinitely or for a stated period, for any conduct deemed to be incompatible with membership.
*3.1.4 Termination of Membership. Membership may be terminated at a regular meeting, either by resignation or by
action of the Conference through a vote of two-thirds of the members. If termination is voted by the Conference, the
Conference shall determine the effective date of the termination

Despite the machinations of the weird North Carolina Legislature, it's extremely unlikely that UNC and NCSU would ever be forced out of the ACC. That conference is becoming very stable and may now be immune from being plundered by the SEC and the Big X.

I can't see future realignment negatively affecting any conference other than the Big 12. Change there will depend upon Oklahoma's ability to stomach their relationship with Texas.

The Sooners would divorce Texas in a heartbeat to go to the Big X but they're not an AAU school so that's not going to happen. They might accompany Texas to the PAC or the SEC but neither of those conferences are hot to take the Longhorns and all the baggage they would bring.

Bottom line, more realignment is not in the immediate future.

We should've never expanded the first time to begin with.

Yeah, we had a cozy set-up but the growth of major college football was on the horizon and the SEC initiated an arms race by expanding to 12. A conference championship game made every conference see dollar signs.

Suddenly, college athletics was all about the money and not much else. Money equates to power and the five major conferences could no longer abide the less wealthy conferences who had an equal say in NCAA rules. They broke away and the "major colleges" became the Power 5 (P5) and the Group of 5 (G5). Now in control of their own destiny, the P5 seemed to be settling into a long period of stability, finally free of the hangers-on.

Then Texas happened. Not happy with being one of 65 relative equals, the Longhorns sought a position of advantage not just within the Big 12 but over all of the P5 schools. Refusing to compromise over money within their conference, and later with other potential conference memberships, Texas caused 4 Big 12 schools to seek better conditions in other conferences.

The frenzy that resulted within the P5 was incredible. It's only now settling down and when something like the North Carolina Legislature happens, it probably receives more attention than it should. The P5 isn't going to change for a long while. As unstable as the Big 12 seems, there's nowhere for any of them to go at this time.

We should all just chill and get used to the way things are. They're going to be that way for a while.

I mean we could've had a 9 game round robin schedule by now with just 10 teams still. Oh well.

Yeah because it makes tons of sense to have Mizzou and Texas A&M in the Southeastern Conference

MO and A&M each bring more money in individually to the SEC than MS and AL combined.

Neither of them is going anywhere.

Bro, Mizzou has like 500 fans. They don't bring in much money.

Their football attendance this year was their lowest since 2002. Their stadium only holds 70k and they haven't even managed to sell that out since 2014.

And their basketball attendance, well...

All that money, amirite? That's totally more money than the state of Alabama which bring a combined nearly 200,000 for home games. Add in Mizzou like you said it's what, 350,000 tickets. But Mizzou and the 50,000 game they bring to home games are totally worth more money

There will be over 15 thousand Mizzou fans inside Mizzou Arena watching Mizzou beat Auburn next season. MPJ is going to own y'all worse than Harvey.
