Their whole DL looks undisciplined

Switched to a base 3-4 defense over the summer, probably still working out kinks.

Maybe losing John Chavis has hurt? Not sure, but I still think LSU's defense isn't the issue.. it's the QB, and maybe they found them one this past weekend.

This is the truth.

I don't think JSU was an accurate indicator of what this team can do. These OOC Div 1A games are always bad for LSU because the crowd is never really into the game and as such the team is over confident and plays like they are sleepwalking....this happens a lot for LSU , see Towson State a few years ago and even ULL some years back.

If the Tiger Stadium atmosphere is electric, the team generally plays really well no matter Les' ineptitude. I personally think the fan base and the players are not over the Wisconsin loss yet and they need to put it behind them. Losing to the top defense in Div. 1 from last year is nothing to be ashamed of

If your team was sleepwalking after a season opening loss, then your problems are a lot more mental than physical.

I've questioned LSU's mental strength for a few years now due to their mindset after a Bama loss. It appears they take a bad attitude instead of bucking up and fighting on for the remainder of the schedule. But if your guys were lethargic and lackadaisical (sleepwalking) in the 2nd game of the season then that's unacceptable.

Key is bigger than last season and has 3 sacks in 2 games, leads the SEC

Key has been fine. All over the place.
He's been a player and stood out IMO, from what I've seen. Granted I watched the Wisky game at the Tailgate Tavern next to Cowboy Stadium prior to our game and I was already drinking heavily....but Key has been good.

Aranda's having a tough time getting the boys to forget the lessons that Kevin Steele taught them. Steele was a better teacher than I thought

With such a large frame (6'6) he makes a better DE prospect than OLB for NFL. There was a time when I thought he could be #1 overall pick similar to Clowney. But not at 238, and not playing OLB. Nfl DE requires 260 minimum.

I'm not saying the defense is in worse shape than the offemse. But if your offense is going to be in the shape it's in, you need your defense to be 2011esque

What? The defensive line looked like the only positive?

He's made an impact at AU thus far. We'll see how their defense progresses, but he's got their defense looking prepared and fundamentally better than they've been in a long time.

Of course it has, you don't lose a championship caliber lifelong DC and replace him with a pencil pusher and not drop a step. That said, there's no reason at this point to doubt that Aranda can't get this squad back to a top 5 defense. Especially with the talent that keeps coming in year after year.

Having 3 DCs in 3 years can tend to be a bit destabilizing. I'm hoping we've stabilized with Aranda.

Aranda is stabilized as long as Miles is stabilized at LSU.

the ignorance on this board is astounding sometimes.

Key has been everything we've expected, and even said that Aranda told them the defense would be more vanilla the first couple of games to get their feet wet.

The defense has been as solid as you could ask.

This is out of my arse 100%, but it feels to me as though the coaching staff puts too much emphasis on the bama game.
