Yes. If Greg McElroy can when a title - and no one is saying Del Rio will win a title - surely any average qb can compete if he has the supporting cast

Exactly. Flordia has some good pieces. The trick for them is going to be McElwaine. So far he is not shaping up to be a great recruiter. that means he will have to get the maximum out of the players he does get. If he can do that they will be ok. If he doesn't, they could be in trouble in a couple of years.

I will say this, about his recruiting, though....Muschamp left Florida stocked with defensive talent but lacking at some of the skill positions. It looks like McElwaine has put a priority on the skill positions, so it could be he is a better recruiter than it appears, right now. If he starts pulling in elite defensive talent in 2017, then they will be in great shape. You can't ignore an area very long. I am guessing McElwaine has got them where he wants them to be and we will see better balanced classes coming their way very shortly.

Don't know what happened at Oregon State but two years later he isn't likely to have turned into chopped liver.

The head coach that recruited him left shortly after he transferred there, so Del Rio wanted out.

In response to the OP, there's really not much evidence outside of our spring game and practice observations. He made quick reads and threw with nice accuracy in the spring game. He doesn't appear to have the greatest arm strength, but we just need a game manager this year. He's obviously well coached being Del Rio's son. He also has been in the system for a year studying, so he knows the offense really well.

I don't think he'll be anything special, but he should be solid, and that's all we need with McElwain's playcalling.

I think del rio will be top 4 in the sec in passing. Kid is underrated, moved around a lot. He impressed as a walk on at Alabama. He will be good, Florida needs a game manager who doesn't lose them games. They will always have a good defense and good running game.

Well let's see. Driskel was highly ranked as a recruit and sought after by a lot of top programs. That didn't work out. Same with Brantley and Treon. They didn't work out. Neither did Grier in the end. Maybe ironically the skinny former walk-on who's bounced around early will be the answer.

That's all I've got. Am I doing this right?
