Thats probably the most fair critique that hes gotten on this website.

Well, this is tRant. 99% of the coach critiques on here are quick reaction trolls. I'm guilty of it myself sometimes, but I also try to be objective. More than anything, it's Butch's cheesy soundbites ("brick by brick", "life champions", etc.) that make him an easy target on here, especially if he loses a game.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. Tennessee would have to be for certain that they found a sure thing to replace him, but I don't think they will pull the plug this easily given what the program's been through.

meh,I don't see Bret being on a hot seat. He's been upgrading on assistant coaches and the recruiting is getting better.

He is also getting grades up and arrests are near non existent.

He's willing to make changes when needed and hopefully he can get over the hump.I hope he can because I like his style of coaching. We'll see..

The Richt-Bots are after Kirby Smart. Honeymoon is over for them, if he doesn't win the NC this year it will validate their opinion that Richt should still be the coach.

Unfortunately they aren't a fringe of the fanbase, they are about 40%.

Butch being on the hot seat is crazy talk when you think about where Tennessee was 5-10 years before. There's no question that they're in much better shape now and letting him go would basically undo all of the progress the program has made so far.

Letting him go doesn't undo the progress. Not letting him go until it's too late undoes the progress.

And Butch's seat is scorching. The fan base hates change, so I have no doubt you'll see multiple posters argue Butch is safe. But he isn't. Maybe he'll survive 8-4 if he beats Florida again. 7-5 gets him gone.

Everyone mentioning Bielema I guess is going to pitch in on that buyout.

Malzahn, Sumlin, Butch, Freeze (although they've stuck with him this long) are the real answers.

8-5 seasons work for most SEC teams. Get you fired at Texas A&M. Sumlin needs 9 or more wins.

My guesses would be Sumlin is gone if A&M wins anything under 9. Butch is gone if Tennessee wins under 8. Bielema is gone if Arkansas misses a bowl game. I think everyone else is safe for now barring a complete implosion.

Gus is really an interesting case right now. IMHO, he's got to win 8 games to turn the heat down. And if the losses are to Bama and/or UGA, they'd better be respectable ones or he's in danger. Anything less than 8 wins, he'd better beat UGA or Bama or both. An UGA win would forgive one loss, an Iron Bowl win would make up for 2.

Sumlin will still Sumlin. He gone.

Bert is safe because it's too expensive to fire him. He's got one more year.

Butch I don't know. I don't think he'll ever be better than 9 wins at UT. Is that good enough, Big Orange? 9-3 and second tier SEC? Maybe an occasional back door trip to Atlanta? I still say you're better than that, or should be. But recent history has the UT admin gun shy and I can see why. You are experiencing your DuBose-Fran-Price-Shula years. It will end, eventually. Keep trying.

Freeze should already be gone. Who knows WTF the crazy Rebears will do?

I think Mac is under more heat than he should be. He'd better get the O cranked up in Gainesville.

I also think Stoops is quietly on the hot seat. UK has built up some decent expectations this season. Anything less than 7 wins is probably the end for Mark.

This right here. Im so sick of losing to our two big rivals. LSU could beat our arse 70-0 and I wouldn't care if we could put an arse whipping on one or the other of Bama/thUGA

Odom - make a bowl game, I'm cool. Five or less wins in 2017, cut him quick.

I think Sumlin is. Not sure on Bert. His buyout was huge last year. If it is down in the $6M range and he shites the bed then I could see him on hot seat.

Malzahn's seat is warm. Another 8 win or less season and I would expect the natives to get restless, particularly if the season ends poorly.

Unless NCAA ties OM's hands and forces Freeze out, he's safe. Who in the world else would take that job if it comes open in December under severe NCAA sanctions? He's the best they can get at this point.
