Threads like this expose those who are in favor of the pussification of the game. Perhaps, the TV networks should cover some flag football games for them.

It's funny because Florida fans would be crying bloody murder if this happened to gillislee

grabbing someone and slamming him on his head over your head isn't pussification, it is keeping someone from getting paralyzed or killed. I personally think that the kicker is fair game and so is the quarterback as long as the whistle isn't blown. I am all for letting the kids play, but this kid could have seriously been injured and I don't want that. Clean is clean and dirty is dirty. Fairley did nothing close to this and he was destroyed and targeted by every team and their fans as being the "dirtiest" but Bama is trying to defend this.

And get his he did. The next 2 plays in a row Mizzou's line all but penetrated that boy, and then stepped on his facemask when they got up. I laughed and told my wife it was a helluva tackle, but he deserved whatever he got for it.

My thoughts were it showed how much bigger and stronger Bama is than Mizzou. That's about it. I don't think he should get suspended personally.

This is how it should be. Let the players handle it on the field.

T Bell for Auburn did exactly this in 2010 and no one cared. He even caused a concussion when he did it.

Should he? Sure.

Was it his intent to do that? No.

What was his intent?

He German suplexed the kid and could have broken his neck

Um...Reuben Foster did this in the game vs. Carver

Foster with the German Suplex

And it was cheered by Auburn fans (myself included).

It is what it is. Players gonna make plays, they're gonna be dangerous. All the good ones get labeled "dirty" at one point or another most times.

Anyone else notice that the Mizzou O-line worked his arse over for the next 2 or 3 plays? Double teams to the ground and laying on top of him.

= greatness in football. I enjoyed Fanning getting worked over. I thought the tackle was incredibly dangerous but pretty cool. TBH.

The mizzou player should have just laid down motionless for a while to bring the point home

Bottom line is Fanning has the talent to be in the 2deep at Bama, but dumbassery like that is the reason why he hasn't cracked the 2 deep But I don't think he'll play in another game this year for Bama [/quote]

Forgive me for not taking this to the bank.

So you think Sabans going to suspend him for the rest of the year for one big time hit? You do realize Fanning finished out the drive, right?

Will he be suspended? Probably. Elston did for his hit. Should he? No. This is football.

Slive will suspend him, Saban will tell him not to do it again, but to keep up the intensity. He'll be playing in the MSU game.

Looked like a legit tackle to me unless it happened after the whistle. No helmet to helmet, no horse collar, not a defenseless receiver. I mean what was the problem? Was the RB even hurt? Didn't look like it.

Good lord there are some pussies in this thread. And I'm guessing all of them have never played a down of football.

What was he suppose to do? Let him go? The guy was trying to get more yards and it was natural for Fanning to pull back, and given the size of the two that's the result.

Look, this is football, it's the nature of the beast. Sometimes tackles like that happen. I wasn't around during the D Butkus years, but I've seen highlights of him and he did it all the time without catching shite.

If tackles like that are too violent for you than I suggest you follow another sport, perhaps soccer.
