Definitely 2010.
#22 South Carolina 5-3, 9-5
Florida 4-4, 8-5
Georgia 3-5, 6-7
Tennessee 3-5, 6-7
Kentucky 2-6, 6-7
Vanderbilt 1-7, 2-10
And that 8 win Florida was not a good team, either.

If MSU, OM and Arky were the top three teams in the West this year, we'd all say the West was down and everyone would understand what that meant.
Not if two of them were in the Top 5 in the Country at the end of the season.

OK, you and the Mizzous wouldn't say that.

2010 - Winner: SCAR. 5-3, FL 4-4, UGA 3-5, Tenn 3-5.
2011 - Winner: UGA. 7-1, FL 3-5, Tenn 1-7.
Overall 2010 SECe SEC Record, including UK and Vandy: 18-30
Overall 2011 SECe Record, including UK and Vandy: 21-27
Overall 2007 SECe Record, including UK and Vandy: 25-23
So 2007 actually turned out to be a pretty good season relative the other season's listed but there is only a 3 game difference between 2010 and 2011, nothing to write home about.
I'd also like to think that if it weren't for the Plague hitting UGA and UF's locker rooms I believe their SEC records would've been much better this past season. The reason 2013 is in contention is because people knocking Mizzou for an easy ride to the SECCG, which these records may not properly show.

Entirely depends, IF MSU, OM and Arky beat every west and east team then went out and beat tOSU, FSU and Oregon or whoever is supposedly the best non SEC teams while bringing home the crystal, then yea I wouldn't say that the West was down.

Fans of crappy teams alwasy say the division is down when thier teams suck...thats how they justify losses.
Posted on 6/5/14 at 10:24 am to DaleDenton
I'd also like to note that SC, Mizzou, UK, and Vandy could all be national title contenders in a single year but as long as UT, UF, and UGA have records like they did last year the division will always be considered down because of the weight those names carry.

SC though is slowly working its way into carrying the same weight as UT, UF, and UGA.

Um, to justify losses, would said fan claim that the other division teams were not down.
I'm not getting your logic.
I've never heard anyone say the reason their team was down was because the division was down.

2007 is not like the others here. UGA was one of the best teams in the country. Finished #2. Absolutely killed undefeated Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl.

Clearly homer glasses play a large part in this argument(like everything else here) but can we all agree that a 10 win season even though you didn't beat a rival or win your division is not a "down year"?
I know some won't agree but I think most will. So USC isn't down, obviously FL and TN are down but how down is UGA? The loss to Vandy is the big sh*t stain on their season, wins there and vs Aubbie and they are right in the hunt.
If that ball doesn't bounce for the war-tigers then UGA wins that one and Mizzou plays a slower offense in ATL and we are talking about how the down East beat the down West. That one play could easily have changed the entire outcome of the SEC this year.
So if one play could have put the SEC East in the NC title game then I will ask again, just why IS THE WEST down and how long and far will it go?

2013 was the best year for the East. The worm has turned and there are new traditional powers in the eastern division of the SEC. I understand how a conference, and a people in general, that are so concerned about history and tradition are not ready to admit that the way things have been in the past no longer applies. So I get why this thread exists.
I fully expect Kentucky-type renovations to take place at Sanford and BHG in the coming decade to reflect their new roles in the division.
Tennessee is done as well.

Here we go again, SEC fans embracing the past to avoid having to see the future.
Look ahead my friend, look ahead.

2010 was pretty shitty
our record should've been better if only Garcia would have played consistently

Not really....we were told when we joined the league "you're in the SEC now, work on depth and no whining about injuries". Look we didn't make the rules but you can bet your arse we'll remind you of them everytime you whine about injuries.

I didn't say Big 6, you looked into the past and stated something based on past expectations.
My point is that there are new powers in the East, and those new powers will become the new traditional powers of the east in the future.
I can understand your desire to look into the past for some reason to believe your time is not done, but it is. It's time to confront that fact with a brave face, not continue living in the past and talking about a made up "Big 6."
Let me know when they announce your renovations focusing on better "fan experience" while reducing capacity. Thanks.
