MSU posters act like Mullen hasn't already looked around. Nothing to see here. Mullen gone in January.

don't worry a $5+ million a year contract offer will do the talking, with the size of MSU's stadium the ticket prices would have to go up to absurd values to support a match to that contract

Yeah, our stadium income didn't just jump $10 mil this year or anything...

If this was true, why wouldn't every coach that won national championships leave their jobs? This year has clearly shown that to be our ceiling at MSU, whether we actually reach it or not.

I was just thinking the same thing. Elkherd has some pent up frustration.

When Mullen was hired some people said it was just a stepping stone job for him. I figured, I hope he DOES use it as a stepping stone, because that will mean he kicked arse during the time he was here. He hasn't really kicked arse until this year, but he has created a program that is way ahead of what he inherited. Primarily, he has shown the fans and administration that you can build a winning program at State.

I won't mind if he leaves, I just hope we can find the right replacement.

James Franklin also had a "job for life"

because he knew he had the program max'd out,

There's a big difference between maxing out a program after 8 wins and maxing out a program after being #1. I know the season is not over, but you can't compare our current state of our program with Vandy's while James Franklin was there.

I really like Mullen and what he has done in Starkville. I hope he stays there for a long time.

I guess he doesn't get credit for recruiting and coaching Prescott? By this logic we can all say Les Miles is a terrible coach because Jennings/Harris are terrible.

ETA: also, you could just look at what he did before Prescott started. Took a perennial cellar dweller team that wins 4-5 games to a consistent bowl contender. I'd say he's done a fine job.

State fans stop falling for the trolls. I can hear your buttholes puckering up over nothing. "Mullen to Florida" and "Mullen to pen state" has been said every year for four years. I'll believe it when i see it. Until then, there are games to be played.

unbelievable....can't beat y'all...

for one, LSU beat you guys 19 out of the last 20 years. You have been the doormat of the SEC for many, many years.

secondly, the sec season is only half way over, at best.....not sure if you realize it won't mean anything more than a few years ago when "we believe" came out....seriously, not trying to slam you, but some of us are in this situation you are in quite often....you guys don't know how to win with class yet.....unfortunately, you won't get much of a chance to refine your skills. Let's assume MSU goes on to win the NC this year....GREAT YEAR. However, you would be un-ranked entering next year, and at the bottom of the West...by far. Living here in Mississippi, it just blows my mind....two doormats of the SEC, with the conference season not yet half over, talking like they are elite in the conference........

If I were in your shoes....I would be thankful and humble, that I finally got to see a good year from my school....but instead, you guys talk shite like you are some elite program. Dude, there are at least 7 other programs in the SEC that are where you are right now...often. The fall by you and Ole Miss will be epic....watch.

wow, you're really not dealing with sucking well.

You mean like a 9 win type team with a QB like Relf. Or a 7-8 win type team with a Russell? yeah, those scenarios look bleak for a school like State.

Why? so the stars can align again in about 10-15 years? Seriously, you are completely delusional if you think Miss State is going to stay anywhere near where they are this year. Next year, they will come into the season unranked again...only next year, reality will be back in full force. Dan knows this....he knows you can't win long-term there and that everything has to work perfect once in 10 years just to have one good year. It's not a slam...it's the truth.

Truth. Strike while the iron is hot and it won't get hotter at MSU ever again. He has to take something if he ever wants to move up.

Stoops will be in the same position next year at this time.
