To be fair, A&M's SEC schedule is as tough or tougher than SC's and you have them with the 3 spot.
No offense to SC, but you can't put them that high and say A&M doesn't host.
Right now SC's RPI and SOS are better than aTm's.

Also, we play aTm this season, so we'll have an opportunity to let the chips fall where they may with that comparison.

Week 8 Baseball Polls
Still a little too early ... but they are finally starting to show a little convergence. We're getting there. Would really be interesting to see five SEC programs in the Top Ten of all four of the major polls a month from now.

Thanks Farmer.
LSU is right where we should be I believe. A lot of baseball left to play. Our season could go either way, especially since we will have played or will play all of the SEC teams currently in the top 10 other than South Carolina.
The league is brutal this season.

Added Collegiate & Coaches. A&M has dropped and moved up in multiple polls after going 3-1 with a conference sweep this past week. So much movement in the top 10.

Coaches poll is what SEC Network uses, so it will be a top 10 matchup instead of a top five matchup this weekend.

you haven't been forced to interact with these people, so of course you wouldn't understand that facts like the one you illustrated has absolutely no impact on the inferiority complex they carry around like a ball and chain. they embrace this victim mentality and use it as motivation. there was a thread on another message board that caters to their kind, about actually boycotting a newspaper because the headline was about a former saints football player murdered this weekend and the masters golf tournament, instead of their series win over florida...

I wouldn't sweat it. Both are as high as the 2-3 range depending on the poll.

It's not just about the schedule. You have to have the wins. SC is 2 games up on everyone in conference. That has to mean something.

I see your point.
At this point arguments could be made for A&M, SC, UF, MSU, and Vandy for all different spots throughout the top 10. As the weeks go on, we will likely get a clearer picture.

Yes it is ... yes it is.
A lot is going to change over the course of the next six weeks though. We'll begin eating our own, so to speak.
SCAR's next six conference series ...
@ Georgia
Mizzou
Florida
@ Kentucky
A&M
@ Bama
... with some pretty tough midweek OOC games mixed in here and there starting tomorrow night in Charlotte vs UNC.
It's always tough when we go to Athens ... their fans seem to show up for our series if no others. We're lucky to have UF and A&M at home, but they are by no means gimme series wins. @ Kentucky has always been a thorn in our sides. Mizzou, with their pitching, cannot be taken for granted. And @ Bama to close out the regular season is a trap series for us before heading to Hoover.
The league is very very tough this year, so far at least, no doubt about it.
LSU is probably going to be scary good by the end of the season.

Kentucky's ranked anywhere from #9 to #23. This polling seems highly scientific.

Damn , Even one of State's outfielder came to the mound and pitched quality innings.

15. Ole Miss (15)
20. LSU (25)
USC came only one poll vote (492 versus Miami's 493) from being #1 in this poll instead of Miami.
But we're all arguing over nothing right now. It's like arguing over pre-season FB rankings in June. The only thing that matters right now is positioning for post-season tournament play, and positioning for hosting.
Playing for national seeds are important, because then that guarantees you home-field advantage through the regionals straight to Omaha. So the top 8 rankings on average. After that it's the top 15-16 to ensure hosting the first Regional, and even top 25 can often earn you that due to being in the SEC with huge stadiums and huge fanbases.
Beyond that, all the SEC is really playing for is conference standings and titles: regular-season and tournament. And these polls have absolutely nothing to do with any of that...

It's still crazy that since the new format came about in 1999, the No. 1 national seed has only won the title once - and it was the first year in 1999.
The crazier thing to me is that in 10 of the 17 years, the champ was not a national seed at all. Meaning they were ranked #9 at best.

Who?
Somebody else already posted the answer, but:
NCAA Division I Baseball Championship
quote:
Since 1999, the NCAA has awarded eight teams with a National Seed. These teams automatically host a super regional if they advance past the regional round, unless their facilities are considered inadequate by the NCAA and thus do not bid to host, or their home stadium is unavailable because of scheduling conflicts. The former was the case for Cal State Fullerton in 1999, as its ballpark lacked the required seating capacity and media facilities at the time. The latter was the case for Missouri State in 2015.
ETA: CSF was #3, Missouri State #8.

Jesus... How good is the SEC this year?
And Tennessee could be so good but their coaching blows.
I hope we can get 3 teams in Omaha.

The SEC has put 3 and 4 teams in Omaha many times. LINK If our conference is as good as everyone is claiming ... we should have no problems doing it again this year. Hell, why not five or six?
