Dude this is complete bull shite. I am not claiming MSU is the second best team in the land or anything, but it's not like our Sunday guys went out there yesterday and got lucky. They pretty much dominated that game against a no doubt top 3 or 4 team in the nation.
Its not bull shite. Before yesterday, our Sunday starters' combined ERA was 11.52. I hope we have found the fix, but one good outing does not make a remedy for an 11.52 ERA.
We're playing good baseball right now and after looking at the RPI, we are probably a solid national seed. Let's keep it up.

But it wasn't. At some point it's about wins...not about losing to good teams. Carolina is three games clear of Vandy in the sec...until that gap closes I don't see how you can rank Vandy higher.

If Pilkington can fill that spot on Sunday's like that and Houston can keep pitchinjg quality innings, we will be very hard to beat in the tournament with our bats as strong as they are. I think this team is built so much better than the '13 team.. That being said, we probably won't win another series this season..

Dang A&M isn't hosting.
They should be. The problem is that they aren't going to give the SEC six hosts. Especially when South Alabama, Southern Miss and Charleston are all mid-major hosts in the SEC blueprint.
I personally gave Ole Miss the host over A&M because A&M shite the bed against Florida. Their 7 SEC wins are against two of the three worst teams in the league and a series win against an LSU team that was struggling.
A&M's schedule is backloaded. State, Vandy, South Carolina and Ole Miss down the stretch.
No one in the Pac 12 seems to want to host a regional, so UCSB might end up getting that last national seed.

Now SC has some nice series to pad the stats coming up. Things are looking good.

Pilkington pitched better than the 11.52 club, but he wasn't "dominant."
4 innings
3 hits
5 walks
1 hit batter
That's 9 baserunners in 4 innings. He also pitched 76 pitches and only 41 strikes.
More days than most, that's a recipe for disaster. Yesterday wasn't one of those days. He got out of the jams he created. But Florida was a timely hit or two away from opening up a big lead.

Has a top 5 team ever not hosted?

PG was way out line dropping us to 25 last week from the teens after we won a weekend series @ Auburn. Never saw someone drop like that for WINNING a road conference series. Now we just dont need to herp a derp @ Mizzou this weekend and should be squarely in the mix in the West. Play MSU the weekend after.

Yes, but it was b/c of facilities. 2 times.
Side note: Ole Miss is the only team ever to host 3 consecutive Super Regionals, and not to advance to the CWS in the current post season format.

Yes,definitely. Because baseball polls are stupid.
I don't have you hosting because your record is a paper tiger. Five of your 7 SEC wins are against the conference garbage. You sucked at Florida, your last nine games are against top 10 teams - two of which might be better than Florida.
And that doesn't include your trip to State this weekend to play in front of 15,000. Win 2 of 3 this weekend and you'll be a definite host. Right now, you're the sixth best team in the SEC.

It's still crazy that since the new format came about in 1999, the No. 1 national seed has only won the title once - and it was the first year in 1999.

To be fair, A&M's SEC schedule is as tough or tougher than SC's and you have them with the 3 spot.
No offense to SC, but you can't put them that high and say A&M doesn't host.

I don't see a problem with it honestly. UF has had the better season overall than us to this point even if we did just take 2/3 at UF. Florida has played a salty schedule and done great in it. It wouldn't have bothered me if they had stayed number 1. We are #3 which is just fine.

Conference USA is going to be interesting to watch this year.
Right now, they have four locks for an at-large bid, and three teams (USM, Florida Atlantic and Rice) that could host a regional.
The Pac 12 sucking is opening up a lot of room for non-traditional hosts. College of Charleston, South Alabama and UCSB are probably in good shape. USM has a top 15 RPI and is leading C-USA. Rice has the pedigree and Florida Atlantic is a good squad that swept Mississippi State to start the season.

Ole Miss did not host 3 in a row. They participated in 3 in a row: Texas in '05 in Oxford, Miami in '06 in Oxford, and Arizona State in '07 in Tempe. It's still is pretty rough to not make it to Omaha in any of those years especially after winning the first game in '05 and '06.
