Did you find anything that was positive, or did you ignore those when counting to 100?
I didn't ignore them. The most positive I heard was Jaws who thought it meant enough to move Manziel up an entire round. Let's remember how down he was on Manziel, 4th rounder now 3rd.

would none of them say he improved or solidified his draft status?
I have no doubt they would say he solidified it. I'd never argue that.

Because you inferred that it meant nothing...
My only belief is that it didn't definitely help him a ton. As you said, it solidified his status.

Johnny was at the combine.
Obviously. He didn't throw at the combine. I'm sure some of your guys weren't though.

So you're saying NFL head coaches and GMs who were there yesterday don't think Pro Days are important, but they wanted to go in order to watch Johnny throw?

They went to talk to him and make sure he solidified it (he did). No one dramatically alters their opinion of a player based on a pro day. It doesn't happen (unless you're Al Davis).
Let's not forget all the other players there, like Mike Evans.

I haven't seen a single person make the claim that Pro Days are for the purpose of dramatically altering opinions.
I feel like a dog, chasing my tail.
Laters.

Some in this thread seemed to hint otherwise. Go to page 1 of the thread.

Well, for people who already know what is on the game tape, the opinion wouldn't be altered that much. But for someone who hadn't seen enough tape or if they run a different type of scheme, they could be impressed by an in-person showing.
Maybe they wanted to see a certain type of throw they hadn't seen on tape. And if he excels at that throw, they could be impressed b/c they are now sure he can make the throw.
Did you happen to catch any of the reactions from Kurt Warner, Bill Polian, Bill O'Brien, Lovie Smith, or Mike Mayock? Maybe it was not on twitter, but the reaction seemed to indicate they were impressed.
Point is saying "it doesn't mean much" is not accurate. It means something. It means different things for different Coaches/GMs.

It's kind of a strawman argument to say "Pro days don't mean much". It's kind of like a debate in a political race, its about not losing ground and about trying to sway some undecideds but you aren't going to win a race purely off a debate. There are other factors to consider though:
1. This draft has been a 3 horse race for QB's all along with Carr starting to make it 4. The general consensus prior to the pro days was varied. The difference between being 1st or 4th is close but in terms of draft position could be huge. Every small factor is therefore magnified.
2. Manziel had the most to prove. Many have questioned his arm and even his ability to work effectively taking the ball under center. The fact he basically made 65 catchable throws all over the field, most of which were perfect, was impressive. He took every snap from under center and showed solid footwork doing 3/5/7 drops which he almost never did at A&M.
3. Manziel had the biggest spotlight and he made it bigger. He made the controversial decision to throw in pads and helmet and didn't skip a beat. He had by far the most pub and attendees at the event and it seemed to energize him. That matters when you are talking about a potential 1st Overall that is going to be the face of your franchise, he has no fear of pressure.
4. The end result was that Manziel came away with the consensus opinion of having the best arm of the 4 QB's. That is absolutely huge considering he is the 1 of the 4 that may have gotten some leeway because of his legs but instead he showed he is actually the superior pure passer as well when there is no question he was the superior athlete.
The key though is Manziel didn't have to move mountains, he just needed to get a slight edge in what is a fairly even race. Will it mean he goes #1? Nope. He sure as hell didn't hurt his chances though and he may well have distanced himself from the others.

Solid logic, and sure, that may be true...but what does that have to do with Jamarcus Russell's pro day?

Can't disagree with that assessment.
