This actually makes a lot of sense.
I hope the SEC takes note, and lifts their ban on this.
a) I want LSU to schedule Georgia OOC. I don't want to have to wait until 2025 to go back to Athens.
b) This could solve the whole permanent opponent BS. If you want to play that opponent so badly (Alabama/Tennessee, Auburn/Georgia), then schedule them OOC in the years you aren't paired on the SEC schedule.

This doesn't make any sense

It makes plenty of sense.
They're super old rivals who don't want to wait 7 years to play each other. And also, they'll probably sell out those games because of the proximity of the two schools and the rivalry.
Anyone saying this doesn't make sense isn't thinking about this from a business perspective.

Well I guess it does in that sense

How many teams does the ACC have these days?

It makes sense for Wake Forest and UNC, but it would be stupid for UGA and LSU to do this. UNC and Wake are hardly ever going to be in the college playoff discussion. UGA and LSU have the potential to be discussed often. I doubt the ADs at LSU and UGA are itching to schedule each other and risk an additional loss against an SEC team so they can see each others campus more often.

SC would've gladly setup another series with unc, they've been dodging us for years.
We got them again next year. Surely they can schedule other good OOC teams. The SEC is on their doorstep and there are plenty of solid non-PF programs in the area. (although I'm sure none of the NC schools want anything to do with ECU)
Hell, the Big 10 isn't far away for a lot of them.
I wouldn't mind always having a Clemson +1 more ACC school annually on our schedule.

From a PR/playoff committee perspective, it's a losing strategy. Yes, you play the same number of "power" teams every year, but people are going to look at it more as "not playing other conferences" than "playing a Power 5 team." If you had a choice between playing an OOC game against a decent team from the Pac 12 or a decent team from the SEC's other division, you'd be well advised to take the Pac 12 game simply because you'll get more subjective valuation from voters and playoff committee members for playing outside your comfort zone, i.e. your own conference.

You want to know what doesn't make sense? Teams used to schedule non - conference opponents as conference games, instead of actually playing additional teams from their own conference.

I'm getting your hint loud and clear. You'll have to court us, though. Flowers, chocolates, roofies, the whole schmoola. We demand only the best at Vandy.

That's just silly
while its a bit odd its exactly what Alabama and Tennessee should be doing so that the SEC can do away with permanent cross division rivals.
however, I wouldn't be surprised if this was an attempt by UNC to weasel out of their state govt required games vs East Carolina.

Must mean UNC is not planning on being a member of the ACC by 2019. Wonder where they are looking? I bet the expansion deal is already being discussed by Slive and others.

LOLno. Carolina runs shite in the ACC, why would they leave (it would be akin to Bama leaving the SEC from a power standpoint... the commissioner is even a former Carolina AD). Plus, check the grant of rights agreement hoss.

I have no problem with this what so ever.
As a football fan, Id rather see the Aggies play Texas, Texas Tech, Baylor, or TCU.
