Yeah. By any reasonable standard, the country -- and the world -- has never been safer. And that's just assuming you're white. If you're a non-white, especially a black person, well...I daresay most people of the darker hues would far, far rather live in the present time than back in the '50s and '60s. As brutal as things can be on occasion nowadays, things were much worse for them back then. And for some reason, there are always people who look befuddled when someone points that out, as if it was just the most bizarre thing that a black person wouldn't want to be subjected to endemic prejudice and violence in return for the "idyllic" world of yesteryear.

I get nostalgia, I do. But one of the primary preconditions of nostalgia is not remembering the bad stuff.

I agree there is a sense of I can't be touched by athletes, but also social media outlets didn't really start til the early 2000s. Websites like this existed, but didn't even have a forum for fans of other teams til much later. But then again an athlete that may go to eastern Michigan isn't going to get as much pub as one of the more recent national champions players.

Similar when a college student dies at a smaller school, let's say he was in a frat. If it happened at a bigger state school, it would get more air play. And it makes sense a school with 30k under grads would be more news worthy over a school with 1400 undergrads. Just by numbers, there would be more people interested in the other story. They clearly have more alumni.

Yes, and let's lock 'em away for a long time, too. We don't have one of the highest incarceration rates in world or anything like that

You do realize that you're trying to reason with some folks who know nothing more than the lies that were stuffed in their heads by our liberal education system, the MSM and Hollywood, correct?

You do know they have zero understanding of true history ... they only know what the left preaches.

You realize that these people believe in The Fed, that unemployment is at an all-time low, that blacks are happier now ... that single parent homes are good .... that our welfare system has made the country stronger .... that rewarding bad behavior is a good thing, etc., etc., etc.

You do realize that is what you are dealing with here for the most part - do you not?

You could smack some of these fricktards in the face with the truth and they wouldn't recognize it because, first of all, they didn't live it and secondly they could care less. Their perception is their reality.

It's a shame really. But let's admit it - the bad guys won. The great experiment failed. The country is devolving at break neck speed and absolutely nothing can be done about it .... hold on for the ride.

There are still programs out there where bad behavior is not rewarded. Where thugs are not recruited. Where academics are still stressed. Where pride in achievement both on and off the field and court and diamond is meshed with accomplishment and honor.

It has nothing to so with race ... but the race baiting fricktards like to make everything a race issue - see it in this thread.

Yet you will never, not ever, be able to reason or hold a decent conversation with a few of these sniveling little know-it-all fricktards. Don't even try. Their Daddies, the few that actually had Daddies, didn't raise them right so they were left to the devices of Sesame Street and video games and liberal educators whom gave them something to latch-onto .... a false narrative, revisionist history and a radical anti-elder view because Lord knows experience and wisdom and opposing viewpoints count for nothing with some of these little snot nosed shits.

You're wasting your time trying to reason with them .... it cannot be done.

I hope you have an outlet for all that rage and it isn't a person or an animal.

While there may be a lot wrong with our country, the solutions are rarely simple. And there is absolutely no reason that 18-21 year old college football players should be the effigy of all your angst.

Ahhhh ... the good old "angry white man" retort. It's the pat lefty comeback taught to you in ..... wait, lemme guess. U.S. History 101 correct? lulz

Well here, lemme share my pat comeback to your pat comeback.

My outlet for all my rage is your mother's vagina .... and she likes it evidently. She begs me to punish that hole for spitting you out-let ... pardon the pun.

75 days 'till kickoff you fricking brat.

Can Newton I didn't/don't like personally .... but hey, that's me. The POS QB at FSU .... I really thought what he got away with was criminal. There is no excuse for blatant rape and coverups .... but I suppose those of us with daughters and granddaughters feel more strongly about that than others evidently. The crap at Vandy ... they dealt with it properly. The crap at Mizzou ... they did not IMHO.

I rarely judge anyone, especially young people, whether they are in college or not. I would be a hypocrite to do so ... I fought, I fricked all kinds of pussy, I skipped classes, wrecked cars, banged two drunk chicks at the same time, smoked weed, even drove drunk from time to time ... I get it. But the rapes, the destruction of property, the thieving and the viciousness of some of the fights ... the fights where people are permanently damaged or scared .... no, uh uh. That ain't cool and there should be repercussions for those sort of things.

We do not experience major problems at SCAR because Spurrier just does not tolerate the bullshite. You hit a woman you're gone - period. Lie to him and you're gone - period. You can get away with the normal bullshite - you'll have to pay a price but he'll give you your chances as he did with Garcia for drinking ... but we've had very very few issues here because there are rules and consequences.

Some places there are not. That's just the facts.

Sometimes angry white old men aren't as smart as they think, and may be the most ignorant of all people.

Ah, the old "your mother's vagina" routine. Of note, I'm definitely no post-modernist; I'm probably older than you; and my mother is dead. I'm not sure I have much else to add that you'd listen to.

It's a shame AU doesn't play the Cocks this year. I'd love to meet up and let you try to teach me a thing or two.
