Best part about the UT bubble was we ran it for a long gain the play before and got holding, so we just said WTH lets do it again.

Conventional wisdom would say you look for other receivers and only throw to Coop when he's open. But Blake is inexperienced, which means he may not get through his progressions. And he has been feasting on Coop so far.

Hopefully, Sims is able to look for his #2 and #3 options, and use his running ability as well. But I do fear that he will try to force it to Coop and VH3 may have some opportunities.

I'm looking for 75% read option with Blake going straight Reggie Bush on everyone.

Cooper doesn't control the throw, only his ability to get open.

I don't think we have a QB that can make sure Coop gets his touches against an elite db. But hopefully I'm wrong. Maybe Blake can rip off a couple early runs and soften the coverage a little.

I'll settle for a little less - effective use of play action out of the pistol, heavy use of the designed rollout/option to limit the decisions he has to make, and pound the shite out of that DL until even our fourth string back is sucking air.

my guess would be that UF takes away cooper, blankets him.

he'll get some catches, but i feel the #2 receiver will have to step up for bama. if sims can spread it out, they'll beat UF. if he tries locking onto cooper all night, it might get interesting.

really looking forward to watching this game

Yea I'm mostly kidding, but I do like that we showed it during the USM game.

Wouldn't mind a little bit of the read option throw/pass option, but my guess is that's pretty tough to teach to the OL when it isn't your bread and butter (like Auburn).

Me too. Hopefully this game will be our first big step toward living up to expectations. We will find out quite a bit in this one.

This game, on the Bama O vs Florida D side will all come down to 2 things.

(1) Can we run on Florida effectively. If we can get into 2nd and 3rd in short and get Blake in easy PA bootleg type plays then I think we will be in pretty good shape.

(2) Can Blake stay calm, go through progressions and make solid throws to guys other than Coop. Because of the threat of our run game (if #1 works) and Cooper, there will inevitably be throws to be made. Sims just has to be calm and find them.

I think #1 is the most important part of the entire game, though.

Very good point. That's why I like rolling Sims out - it gives you a run/pass option with much fewer complications and decisions. The downside is a very quick defense can take away both options, so you can't rely on it every play.

I think driskel will surprise folks with his passing in this game however. will it be enough to win? doubtful. I think bama most likely wins by 2 touchdowns.

they move him around a lot, but when hes lined up with vh3 infront of him his production will be limited.

i completely agree. My question is will VH3 follow him around all day? If not, i think Kiffin will just scheme around VH3 and use Cooper out of the slot more.

I think the problem for Florida is Driskel isn't very accurate.

To take advantage of the "Saban can't beat the spread" thing you have to have a QB who puts the ball in the right spot. I mean, look at those games the last few years

WVU this year - Trickett was perfect
OU last year - Knight was perfect
A&M last 2 years - Manziel was mostly perfect
USCe in 2010 - drunk was perfect

Those guys made throws into tight spots, but we leave corners on islands and so if you can put it where you need to you can take advantage.

I don't think Driskel is that advanced as a passer to do that. But we will see.

You have a point. Each one of those QBs had the game of their life against Bama.

Of course, they didn't beat us - we beat ourselves. But the opposing quarterbacks were outstanding.

They had to be outstanding to be in a position for us to beat ourselves.

And it isn't necessarily because they are lucky or something, they just have been incredibly accurate. Sometimes it's a one game fluke and sometimes they are just very accurate QBs.

Bottom line, nothing I have seen from Driskel puts him in that category. He appears to be much more in the Bo Wallace, State QBs, etc category against which we typically clean up.

But who knows, he certainly has the talent. Hopefully he waits another week to put it all together.

There will be a lot "pick plays" and bubble screens ran to free him up.

Saban and Kiffin will NOT allow VH3 the opportunity at their young QB. Although we all know that Cooper is good enough to handle and beat VH3, they'll be more worried about Sims.

I just don't know if bama has a good secondary as a whole this year. UF won't be much of a test IMO, but I think driskel has found his go to receiver now.

Now A&M? that's a whole 'nother story
