I tend to agree. But I also don't cringe at the punishment either. Mainly because of how he handled it. Call into a radio show, brag about it, make false claims about rolling the tree when bear died, feigning being mugged at a gas station, too much bama in him, etc. These things don't really matter for the sentencing, but they certainly didn't make him a very sympathetic party either.
Calling it his "15 minutes of fame" also didn't sit too well.

Updyke is crazy. He only made the hate for Bama greater than it was. He stole an Icon from AU which every AU fan loved. For no reason other than he thought AU dissed his team.
He should never have gone to trial. He should have been put in a nut house and never been turned loose.And he should have never been able to watch or listen to a Bama game,never.
That would would have fit the crime.
