Good work on this stuff.

Thanks! I found that the data validated my perception of the general perception so I guess I'm satisfied.

You know what amazed me about this was... it was not that surprising.

Not slighting the survey, I thought it was very well done to be honest. I am just saying the results seem to concur with what people have been predicting both in the media and on here.

Alabama is, not surprisingly, the team to beat. Georgia seems to have the inside track on the East. And God only knows how the West will shake out this year.

Good thread superfresh.

Kentucky is the only team not to get a 1st place vote. Poor Kentucky

I thought about considering all the Vanderbilt 1st place ballots as trolls and excluding them, but they don't really have that much of an effect.

I was gonna ask you about that. I didn't know if they were Vandy fans, or just trolls who thought they were being funny.

I think most Vanderbilt fans would be reasonable enough to not project themselves to win the SEC next year.

I knew this was a LSU-first site, but wow! I had no idea I was in the devil's den.

I don't think they win the SEC, but a lot of folks have been predicting a good season for Kentucky this year. Stoops is starting to get into the "we need to see something" stage of his tenure there and the Wildcats seem to have a legit shot at a 6-7 win season.

Perhaps more if they really catch fire.

If they don't... then I think that seat starts to get a bit warm for Stoops. Still, with the work they have been doing, Kentucky seems like a program that is getting better. I think they go bowling and given how low level SEC bowls tend to play out I think they win that bowl game.

Any way you could do Auburn's response vs. the rest?

I know, I was just curious. What survey website did you use for this?

Surveymonkey and then hand entered the data into excel between 3 polls as they only let you elicit 100 responses per poll. I'm sure there are better free surveys out there on other websites though.

Coming right up. I was slightly interested in this myself as Auburn was the 2nd largest participating fan base.

Auburn only data table is the one on the left. Y'all are in line with everyone else except for Auburn and Alabama, which is understandable IMO.

An also interesting note is that collectively we think that Arkansas will have a better season than A&M, Ole Miss, or Mississippi State yet Arkansas has less than half the 1st place votes of many of these teams (refer to voting tables on page 1) despite having just as much if not more participation. If we assume that most of the teams first place votes came from their own fanbases, Arkansas would be the least "delusional" despite having the most grounds for such according to everyone else.

I thought you couldn't go back and pull more? Did you break down and pay the money?

If so I feel responsible.....I'd be happy to pay pal it to you

Mmmmm.... data....

You're gonna have to do some SEC East breakdowns as well. I was surprised see the Missouri Tennessee order of finish, though that's exactly how I voted them.

I'd like to see the variance on Florida. In fact, variance measures would be nice on all of these just to see how stable the predictions are for some teams rather than others.

And just a guess, but I'd bet the Vandy #1 picks came from fans of SEC West teams.
