If he transfers to a JUCO, he can play this year AND be immediately eligible wherever he wants to go in 2017.
It's even simpler. He's not a grad transfer. If he goes ANYWHERE (not just SEC) in FBS this year, NCAA rules say he has to sit a season.
By going JUCO, he still gets to play this year and can go anywhere in 2017.
