Had Florida not botched the coverage so badly on the last TD of the first half, they probably win the game.

With Treon Harris at QB, despite his decent play given the OL issues, UF needed a near perfect game from the defense to win, and the defense had a terrible first half.

Still, it was a great game, and I think UF would have a good shot in a rematch.

The point being what, your defense isn't good enough to stop them?

Not here to debate this, but you guys scored after a muffed punt deep in our territory, and then scored on a punt return...14 points that could have and probably should have never happened

And two of your scores came from punts, one which shouldnt have happened due to a missed block in the back where the guy caught it

I'm just happy that LSU has to resort to gimmicks and fakes to win the game versus UF again. LSU is very good this year. No shame in losing to them by one score at night, in TS, the loudest stadium in the country with the best fans, food and tailgates anywhere.

If this were a Boom coached team we'd have lost by 3 TDs or more.

Several LSU fans have said what a hard fought victory it was and they were impressed with UF and Mac. Lots of fight in those boys I was told. I appreciate those LSU fans a great deal. to those guys. I'd have a beer with all of them.

If LSU doesn't muff the punt in the first quarter, then the outcome is the same, UF loses. Both teams made mistakes, had blown coverages. For virtually every significant breakdown that UF had, LSU had one. Mistakes are part of the game, and usually in a game like this both teams will have their share. However we tend to focus more on our own team's mistakes and ignore or minimize the other team's errors.

That is a hard assumption to make. I recognize that the TD gave LSU momentum going into the half. However, Miles got conservative and only called a handful of passes in the second half.

It's what he does to protect the ball and shorten the game. He'll ramp things up when needed. Example: using the fake field goal to cap a 75 yd drive.

I don't understand what your point is. This thread is about Florida's defense and I broke down 3 key plays on the first page and then responded to someone that said LSU doesn't resort to gimmicks.

It was a great game and UF has a great coach in Mac. However, the UF fans on this site acting like LSU was lucky to win ruin any chance of this being conveyed, past Sunday, on this board.

So, you can stop acting surprised that LSU fans are talking shite to you guys. It's going both ways.

Incorrect. I said LSU's offense isn't gimmicky. You do know the difference between a trick play call or two and a gimmicky offense, correct?

Well first of all it wasn't a Hail Mary. A Hail Mary is throwing up a prayer hints the name. Harris threw a rocket straight to Dupre... Yes FL DB was turned around. Second if that was a Hail Mary than the two long passes from T Harris were more so Hail Mary passes. We beat the brakes off of FL with over 200 rushing and passing. Held FL under 70 yards rushing and just over 150 yards passing. A lucky muffed punt gave y'all a score on 4 plays and that one was close. Another 7 points from ST. FL was very lucky this game didn't get away from them so if we were to play again LSU would actually do what they should have a that's kick some butt. Goes both ways

And having Fournette get a running start in the wildcat without getting a false start penalty is pretty gimmicky

I don't understand why this should be a penalty. The rules allow a guy in the backfield to go in motion as long as he moves laterally, which is what he did. I don't think motion was the intention, but it's not illegal as long as he was the only guy in motion.

Jeeze. You'd think you frickers would've learned by now. That kind of shite can't possibly be considered a gimmick anymore with Les. He's pretty much done this his whole time at LSU and Florida just happens to be the team he's been able to do it to the most.

He didn't need to resort to gimmicks and fakes to whip up on us last year did he?

That's all I'm saying. It's a good sign for UF when Les does Les stuff. That's all. Great game.

I hope you guys beat the shite out of Bama!

Maybe....maybe not...but one thing is for damn sure...you haven't played a team with such a strong running game that can also beat your arse passing and that also has a very good run defense. It will be the best you have seen in those three categories. Do go ahead and talk your shite....but don't forget you gave up an average 33 points to ole miss and a&m...you damn sure aren't elite.

If I had a nickel for every game that resulted in one team saying, "well if it wasn't for [insert a few key plays], we would have done better," I'd have a nickel for every football game ever played.

LSU has a lot of big plays this year. LSU runs some unusual trick play every season, as does every team. Not all trick plays work, but our success with them is a product of great timing, play calling, and execution. It always looks bad when you are wishing the other team would do everything you want and planned for.

Is the goal to give everyone the impression that UF's defense is excellent as long as they know exactly what is coming?
