Does he even work for the company anymore

Why are some of you people convinced this is a bad hire or that the football program is going to decline? That's wishful thinking and writing it makes you look foolish.

That would be a great hire. Does she have any ties to Alabama? It would be kinda random for her to leave OU.

In all seriousness, I don't know what his ties are now and what the rules are for private ventures for Athletic Directors. I always thought it was pretty strange that Frank Broyles could be an AD and game announcer at the same time.

Didn't read the thread, but I am fricking pumped for this hire.

I'd be surprised if he didn't have some sort of stock, but you never know. I really was just engaging in waggish banter.

I think he stayed on as COO of CLC after the IMG purchase. (This may have already been covered)

Isn't it awesome?! I was pretty down about Coach Moore, and this has cheered me up a bit!

I've known Bill Battle since I was a student at UT and he is one of the smartest, classiest and most capable men on Earth.
He's show is pretty dumb sometime but he is usually spot on about people and interviewing them. Havent heard anything but good things about Bill so Im happy with the hire.

Played at Bama and was on Bryant's first championship team, but he's best known for being Tennessee's head coach in the 1970s.

Once his wife finally passed, I always figured it would just be a matter of time before things started happening...I just hate that it had to work out this way. I hope Coach Moore gets a chance to get back healthy and come back to a game to be honored next year.

No. That is ancillary in regard to his reputation. CLC was, and is, a big fricking deal.

Freaking Joe Dean Jr. is the AD at Birmingham Southern.

Agree 100%. I was hoping when his wife passed away that he would be able to relax a little and do stuff he hadn't been able to do while he was taking care of her. I've been a little mopey since I found out how sick he was.
The article I linked on the second page of this thread is actually an interesting read about the story of Battle's company, his career, and what he's been up to. I am on my phone so I didn't want to link text.
