The offensive philosophy is flawed for the defense. If I was a DC, no way I would take a job with Gum Smacker or Sumlin.

No matter how good you are, your D will always blow.

It's not just TOP.

Games have a flow to them. It's why the Big 12 is the way it is.

Watch the game this week. See if it's 50 to 40 or whatever. It's going to be a more ball control, field position type game.

I've watched every one of our games and pace is the least of our defensive problems. There is statistical evidence to support that theory too. We aren't "wearing down". We suck from the opening kickoff.

This^^^^.

Gum Smacker's style of offense completely throws off the normal flow of the game. The flow of the game is why Bama can win with 55 points against Aubie and 14 points against Arkie.

You never ever will see Malzahn win a game with only 14 points.

Since Sumlin's defense's have always been hot garbage and he will be on his 3rd DC in 4 years? You could make the argument no decent DC with higher aspirations would want to work with him.

A former Big12 QB just a few years past their playing days would love to be his OC, however.

Does it upset you that his offenses scores so many points?

So we've debunked the total plays per game and TOP arguments and now we're down to the "flow of the game" argument?

Our defense is horrible. No one was asking them to be world beaters. That's why Ellis Johnson was fired. End of story.

Bert used his DC as a scapegoat last year?

Your hypocrisy is amusing.

Ha, I'm not disagreeing. Just saying that there is something to the "pace offense hurts your defense" argument. It's almost universally true with these teams and very few exceptions.

Am I high, or was this thread based on this question:
quote:

Is it the offensive philosophy that is flawed or is it a true deficiency with the DC?

quote:

premise of this thread is dildos

How is that question "dildos"?

Stoops and Patterson both had solid D's before the current pace and style of offense took over the big12.

We have a HUNH offense and you can bet a lot of people will be calling about our DC.
