LSU will have the best defense again. DBU = by far the best secondary with an improved d-line and linebacker corps. We'll be tough to move the ball against much less score... Oh, and Third and Chavis is now A&M's problem.

Except you really never know what you'll get from Steele. Alabama knows that from 2007, which is why he was demoted in 2008. And Clemson definitely knows it. Amazing recruiter and tremendous talent developer. Average play caller.

That can't be said with a brand new defensive coordinator, especially considering Chavis was good at what he did. You may HOPE they are great, but there is no way to say for sure with a new guy making the calls.

If Steele is remotely competent he can ride the defensive talent to field a Top 20 unit nationally.

Only real losses from the team were Danielle Hunter and Kwon Alexander. The rest of the roster is bigger, faster, and more experienced.

A dead pine tree could thrive as a DC with those athletes.

Fold like it did when he was gone from 2009-2013?

Nationally? Could be, but there are going to be some solid defenses like any other season.

In the SEC? I don't see why not.

Alabama hasn't finished lower than #20 in total defense since 2009 and with all of the 4-stars and 5-stars on the roster there is no reason not to be right near the top again. It will be the way until Saban retires.

I like the athleticism of the LBs more with Dickson and Depriest gone. Hate losing the experience and leadership.

I understand. Bama may end up having the best front 7 but nothing points to that right now. You dont lose your best pass rusher and 2nd best tackler out of the front 7 and say you easily have the best front 7. We dont know how good it will be. Im sure it wont be bad. Bama never has bad front 7.

Bama won't have the BEST defense, but they will have a SMART defense.

It's basically comes down to the issues I stated in my original post in this thread. The defensive line is likely the best in the country. The LBs will be built around Reggie Ragland, but the talent is there at the other three spots. They need to grow up. The secondary has a solid pair of corners and great, young depth. The safeties are a real concern. In all, they'll be a top three defense in the SEC and top ten in the country in 2015.

A 7th round draft pick and an undrafted guy. NEITHER will be missed. What do you not understand about the fact that Bama RELOADS unlike any team in America. Trust me, neither guy was anything special.
