I don't think any of us are actually expecting White to be anything near what we thought Jeremy Johnson was going to be.

I have a friend who is a huge AU fan and he said if White plays lights out and looks and plays much better that JJ has, Gus should be fired on the spot for his qb evaluation. What say you?

Gus knows that once he plays Sean white that they won't lose again. Therefore Gus waited to till first sec home game on ESPN to unveil white's super talent so white can thank the man who shaped his super talent... Trent dilfer -- ESPN analyst.

No because some people could be practice all-stars and completely freeze up in a game. It appears that's what has happened with Johnson.

I blame the lack of emotive quality one can gather from text.

This is true. Gus is actually a master troll and has been playing the long game since last October as part of the greatest troll on tRant in history.

Dilfer is a dumb shite. All knowing about QB's and was sub par at best.

I say that your friend is pretty upset. Jeremy Johnson has all the skills to be a fantastic QB. He just hasn't been able to let the game come to him and he lost confidence because of it. Personally, I think it's something almost equivalent to test anxiety. You study for days before the test and are super prepared... the test is handed to you and you blank. Prefrontal cortex just shuts down from the stress response of being given the test. That's not something Gus can control.

Playing QB is 100% mental and 0% physical.

Coaching succes is scientifically linked to how good you were as a player. That's 5'6" Nick Saban is the best coach ever and Butch Jones was in the band.

Sounds a lot like Kiehl Frazer issues.

At this point, a qb who does not throw the ball backwards or straight to the defender is a "program changer" for us.

Gus could have controlled getting White some snaps against LSU when he knew there wasn't a possibility of winning. At least give him some live action against a good defense before giving him the start.

Not really. They completely changed the offense and really whole offensive philosophy for Frazier. JJ hasn't had to deal with all of that and he's a junior.

That's who JJ reminded me of also. Soft when running the ball and to quick to leave the pocket when rushed.

I like the way Gus handled that. At least he's mentally preparing White to start. He'll have a weeks practice as the starter and won't be in a hostile environment.

I think it would be better to start a new qb at home v starting at Death Valley.

Probably so, but I think the experience would have been invaluable. Teaching moments and all that he could have gotten this week.
