For college? Football and men's basketball are the only two sports that offer any bragging rights.

Cheer-leading. It's a NON-sport.

Football and men's basketball are the only ones anybody cares about

Baseball is on the same level as women's field hockey. Whoever wins the CWS will get as much prestige as whoever wins the NAIA shot put national championship

If someone's team is good at it, they don't see it as a niche sport.

You can enjoy it but realize most people don't really care.

I don't brag when I go 8/8 as Jason on Friday the 13th.

I think Bama thinks everything but football is niche, right?

If I remember, I think Bama also thinks if it doesn't make a certain amount of money its niche.

Depends on how good our baseball and basketball teams are. Baseball has been a niche sport since the turn of the century. Basketball since the mid-00s, but could potentially become mainstream in the next couple years

I think my attitude towards college basketball is how most people feel about college baseball. Different priorities. I wish LSU was good at basketball, and I enjoy our surprisingly impressive history in the sport, but it's just not my game.

Yeah I couldn't give less of a frick about college basketball. And the argument that college baseball is such a low level because of the minor league is dumb. Maybe for conference USA but in any given SEC weekend series you're probably watching more guys that will make it to the majors than you would if you were even at a A game. Friday night SEC pitchers are throwing on an upper minor league level already.

Basketball isn't a niche sport.

I went to FloridaGators.com to see who they were starting today, and their first headline is about football on the day the CWS Final starts. College baseball just isn't very popular. This will probably be the best rated final since '09 though.

This. I think for every fanbase its:

1) Football

2) Sports that their school is good at this season

3) Sports that they could be good at next season (see Mizzou Basketball)

4) Sports that their school is historically good at

5) What they view as "Niche Sports"

So the question is: what isn't a niche sport?

I'll admit, baseball is way down the list from football and basketball but still a solid third. It's a revenue generator at most schools where every other sport (besides those mentioned above) hemorrhage money.

It's on ESPN One so that at least says something. True it's late June but still.

Other than that, who gives a shite? I want to see my school win another title. Everybody else in the conference is just beating off watching recruiting and scrimmages and other super boring summer bullshite. UF And LSU are actually playing for something...

No Bama is good at gymnastics and softball, and those are definitely niche sports. I watch them along with college baseball because I love college sports, but I don't pretend they carry weight.

It was funny watching Alabama fans talk up their softball team on here because they've been good recently, but they hate college baseball and no one watches it!!!

Things that make you say hmmm
