So then what was the point in spending millions of dollars to build those facilities if half of your pass plays can't even be practiced in them? Looks like Tennessee, LSU, and Oklahoma State made a point to build theirs the right way.

How much room you want on a sideline?

The IPFs are used mainly for walk throughs and basic skills drills.

Scrimmages are held outside, at Arkansas there are three fields available for outdoors practicing (where the majority of practice takes place).

Oregon built the first one in the Pac - 12. It's probably due for an upgrade.

I'm talking mainly about the arch of the ceilings being too low to throw a pass along the sidelines in most (but not all) of the facilities. Props also goes out to the several schools that also didn't put posts along walls next to the sideline that a player won't slam into after running out of bounds.

I like Virginia's. Appears they have an elevated viewing area for the coaches.

No way. Ceilings are much too low, and UK's track cuts into their playing field. Can't practice sideline passes or corner routes into the endzone. UM's does have a nice safety feature though, as the goal posts are actually hanging from the wall--so there is no pole on the ground that the players can slam into (LSU's also has this feature).

Arkies surprised me. Facility looks really good

Our tennis courts have sky boxes, just to give you an idea of how much money we spend on facilities.

Georgia's is shocking. I went to a poor high school and our practice facility was about the same size as that. Did Mark Richt lose control of construction or something?

Looks like most appear to have this feature to varying degrees, although UVA's is no doubt better than most. Georgia's has some coaching offices that actually look back onto their indoor playing field.

Every Georgia design failure is blamed on the geography of the campus. A full size facility wouldn't fit in between two building so they have that, their stadium was built in a drained pond, so its how it is.

They have it so much worse than schools like Tennessee and Arkansas when it comes to geography surrounding the campus.

That's how Tennessees is set up as well. Most of the staff have offices overlooking the IPF. Great feature

Originally, UGA's was supposed to extend outward from the current "indoor facility" (it's there for walk-throughs, the workout program, and special events, not actual drills and practices) and onto the practice fields but for whatever reason that idea was scrapped.

As mentioned, some schools just don't want/need them and I guess UGA considers itself one such school
