Florida is hard as hell to get into these days. They regret folks with 4.0 gpa's.

Hmm, I bet they do. I bet they do

Bobby Jindal and his degrees from Brown and Oxford say hi.

Every year LSU slides off further in the ranks due to bad press. It sucks

I agree with Evolved Simian. That's absolutely absurd. Whether you go to Harvard or Memphis, it really only boils down to one thing.

The education you receive in college is what you make of it.

I mean really.

What's the difference between calculus at an Ivy League school vs. a state funded school?

Nothing, the answers are always going to be the same.

Miss State is a fine institution and a school where tractor driving skills are honed and cow milking experiences are taught.

Big Six

Combine it with football and you get:

A&M's research budget is becoming a monstrosity. We should be due to lap the other school in our state soon in research... as in double the budget. And money goes a lot further in B/CS than downtown Austin.

There are not enough tier 1 spots for qualified students in Texas. This has benefitted other schools in neighboring states with a spillover of Texas students to fill their universities and broaden their alumni base.

Right or wrong, the decision was made to use the only public tier 1 university in Texas with room to grow to educate more Texans with useful and practical degrees. We are a proud land, sea and space grant institution and it is our mission to take the able and turn them into valuable assets to the economy of Texas and the world. We don't turn our nose to those who are able and willing to work hard to make something of themselves. In the short term, if that means higher acceptance rates and lower rankings because you don't have to take the SAT or ACT multiple times to get in, so be it.

We are the SEC: good at football but academics take a back seat. Deal with it

Us dropping out of the top 50 in the past few years is a testament to the fact that Rick Perry shouldn't be trusted with anything. Oh yeah, and the fact that texas is the poster child for illegal immigration.

Maybe the fact that Joe "the search" Alleva is considered and acceptable choice for a vice chancellor for the school was a sign.
