Plus Bama has the infrastructure in place to continue moving forward at a pace that will be hard to catch up to. Despite any resource gap Nick Saban is ahead of everyone in accumulating coaching talent in both the SEC and the country.

Then let's go with recruiting, location, recruiting location and academics.

This is very spot on. Nice job.

That political climate down there is unimaginable.

Alabama
Money - Not the wealthiest
Recruiting - Depends on the coach
Location - Not especially attractive
Academics - Average

Money- Alabama is #4 in the country in Athletic Dept. Revenue. Brought in $148 million last year. Has the 3rd wealthiest sports licensing deal. Money is never an object.

Recruiting - 4th best state per capita LINK
8th ranked state with most NFL players LINK

Location - It's in the middle of a recruiting hotbed bordering Georgia, Mississippi and Florida. A couple of hours from Atlanta and couple of hours from the coast. Tuscaloosa is bigger than the average college town. Economy is booming.

Academics - One of the better State Flagships. New York Times
Another NYT

LSU wasn't a top SEC Program until they straightened out HS Academics in LA. The state produces so much talent, but LSU couldn't get them into school because the education system. Saban did a good job recruiting, but he benefited from the system changes in the state.

In laws have lived in NOLA their entire lives. They currently live at St. Charles and 8th and are looking at finally leaving and maybe heading up to the Franklin / Brentwood area of Nashville. Things are just way too crazy there now.

We lived in BR for 5 years (2008-2013) and really couldn't believe what was starting to go on there.

Money- a result of winning
Recruiting-the per capita is bs, especially with AU in the state.
NFL Players- result of Saban and his hype with NFL Scouts.
Location- Birmingham and West Mississippi, other schools have a much better avantage (even AU).
Academics-

No income tax on that 5mil/yr is probably kinda nice too

i lived in the warehouse district up until katrina. lived in st. tammany after that, then just moved out of state.

if it's gotten to the point where people are leaving st. charles then you can call it a day on the city as a whole.

haven't lived in br since fall of 2003. was a shithole then, even worse now i suspect.

You currently have to factor in that currently no high level coach will take a job in the same division as Saban, and probably not in the same conference.

1. Florida
2. Bama
3. Georgia
4 - 6: LSU, A&M, Auburn
7 - 8: Tenn & KY

Imo, Georgia, LSU, and A&M all have a good bit more potential, whereas there is a lower ceiling for Auburn, Tenn and KY.

in state competition for recruiting will always give uga, lsu and a&m an edge for potential. obviously because texas is so damn big.

i'd put auburn ahead of tenn and kentucky because despite in state competition, they are still in a great area to recruit. much better than tenn or uk.

probably

uf
bama
uga, lsu, a&m
auburn

bama has built up so much tradition and legacy that it puts them higher than their base potential would be. ridiculous. if lsu had to try and be like auburn, they'd be worse off. auburn does a great job given the elephant in the room.
