Also I dare you to find a team with as bad of TOP as us and with a total defense ranking anywhere near us.

I haven't looked, but I'd venture to say LSU's TOP was pretty god awful.

I really do have to go back to work now.

I understand the meaning of the word total as well frickface.

I don't have to quote you. If you can't remember what you posted one page ago you need to be checked for dementia.

quote:

It's the measuring stick used to rank defenses in their totality

Actually it's used as an average of yards per game. If you read your own links you would know that already.

How do you compare defenses? Take Arkansas and it's offensive style and our defense faces 60 or so plays a game. While on the other side of the coin Auburn's D might face 80 or more. And you can bet Auburn's D is gonna give up some yards and points in that last 20.
It's fun to project this stuff. But, in the end W's & L's tell the real story.

and also used as a measuring stick for ranking defenses. Hence why even multiple articles reference LSU as the #1 D in the SEC. Google it.

gotta go,

Yes and the other myriad stats out there rank defenses too. Novel concept eh?

It is more difficult to replace quality DL than you seem to infer.

What if the reason for the success is the system and not the players?

Bielema has been building the OL and DL since he stepped on campus, I promise we'll be ok.

"Southofhere"

After the a$$ kicking in the Egg Bowl, I am surprised you are even in this conversation. Your defense made our lame running game look like world beaters.

I don't understand why these Ole Miss fans are getting so upset. By the main NCAA stat line used on Defense (Total Defense) LSU was better. That does not mean that LSU's defense was better taking all factors into account. And points given up isn't the most important either.

Hahahaha! Way to melt butthurt bro! My answer to this....... "yeah. So?"
Yes OM beat State. Good game. Deserved the win. Somehow you must not have read the thread. Or maybe aren't able to both read and comprehend it. Not sure which problem you suffer from. But it doesn't change the fact your defense isn't great. Was opportunistic.!and quite frankly lucky. I mean the facts are in front of you. LSU ran and ran and ran. Arky ran and ran and ran. Bama ran and ran until they unexplainable decided to stop running. TCU did whatever they wanted. Great defenses don't have multiple games like this in the same year. If you can name one, I'm listening.

Yes, because that solely came down to our defense...definitely not our offense turning the ball over numerous times on our side of the field or our offense going 3 and out every possession.

Your logic is spot on.

If Arkansas and TCU were able to do it, what happened to that SEC game in between them?

quote:

LSU ran and ran and ran

Yeah, really put it on our defense. 10 points because Golson bit and Jennings actually completed a pass.

quote:

Arky ran and ran and ran

And our offense kept running off the field after three plays.
quote:

Bama ran and ran until they unexplainable decided to stop running.

Oh this is fantastic. No credit to our defense...just..."Bama decided to stop"

quote:

TCU did whatever they wanted.

I'm still waiting for MSU's name to pop up. TCU and Arkansas were the only "bad" games from our defense.

quote:

Great defenses don't have multiple games like this in the same year.

Wait, what? You listed four games. One we won, one we lost 10-7 in DV at night after our defense played incredible and kept us in the game, and two games we would have come closer to winning had our offense not taken a single snap all game.
