Honestly not that impressive a list. Besides Berry, a lot of good to very good safeties. Not many great ones.

This was my first impression as well, but then I realized I was looking at it from how they had continued their careers into the NFL. I was thinking there were no Ed Reeds or Sean Taylors, but then I looked at them from strictly as college players and all these guys were very good.

Jason Allen was an absolute terror in his day, and Craig Steltz was all over the field for LSU.

I would put Davis and Nelson higher, Landry and Barron lower.

Reggie Nelson should be higher. That guy was incredible in 2006.

This. At his peak, only Berry was better. Nelson was incredible.

Nelson was incredible in '06 but I don't recall him doing much before then. LaRon as a TrFr was playing from game 1 if not starting, i.e., better career.

Nelson was a great college player and from this list, only Berry tops him.

Not sure what happened to him in Jacksonville. He had a phenomenal rookie season and seemed to turn into a pussy in following seasons.

Reggie Nelson once intercepted a pass that was thrown out of the stadium.

Major Wright and Matt Elam should've been considered at least for this list.

Black was pretty good too. We've pumped out a lot of good college safeties. Kind of surprised only one was on the list.

Made so many big time plays in 08.

But that hit Wright put on the OU receiver (forget the name) in the NCG set the tone from the start.

I agree Black should be on the list

Also, if we're going by NFL success, Ryan Clark could make a case for top ten

That sums up the Safety position across the board, IMO. Even at the NFL level. There a few great ones, but all others are just bad CBs playing centerfield

Reggie Nelson was better than Eric Berry in college.

Rosegreen had a monster game against Tennessee but he was never an elite safety. Dude never even played in the NFL if I recall.

This is exactly right. This list is made to look at what they accomplished in college, not the NFL. Steltz was a Thorpe finalist and All-American for a reason.

Deon Grant, Eric Reid, Steltz, & Reshad Johnson don't belong on this list

Hell, 5-10 don't even belong on this list
