oklahoma played one team with a pulse...

Like stated previously in thread, it came down to the BGSU game, had Auburn retained them on the schedule rather than scrambling to find a team and filling the slot with the Citadel, Auburn would have had the points to be in the game

This is the second time I've noticed this on a post like this. Last time it was 21 upvotes, 0 downvotes. This time it's 9-6. There's some serious voodoo going on with that damn season.

Oklahoma had the returning Heisman winner, freshman sensation Heisman finalist Adrian Peterson, had previously played for the national title.

Auburn played no one on their schedule that was as tough as that Texas team in which OU shutout. That was Texas' only loss, and wouldn't lose again until 2006.

On paper, Auburn wasn't near what Oklahoma and USC had.

Oklahoma's QB was Jason White. He was an embarrassment to postseason football and arguably the worst Heisman winner of all-time.

A lesser LSU team embarrassed him the year before. '04 AU would've done unspeakable things to him.

Your argument is irrelevant.

And that was just all of a sudden going to stop against Ok St? We would have beat them just like we did Oregon and WVU.

Lsu won't be topping any poll anytime soon with the shite you just hired.

Classy. Of course that's par for the course for you Skoal Drool Things.
On a related note, Justin Ross Harris is still in prison. Brian Downing should still be. Of course he could get all the the teabagging he wanted in prison.

Says the crybaby AU fan. Jason White also had two separate knee surgeries in 2001 which ended his season and 2002 which ended his season. He carried two damn good teams to championship games. At least our players weren't paid for like Auburn in 2010.

Jason White is nowhere near one of the worst of all time. You just hate OU because they never dropped below #2. Play all 1A teams. Stay away from 1AA.

OU fan claiming another team is dirty. Barry Switzer was your freaking coach for 20 years! Under Stoops your program has given jobs to players that didn't exist. Your most current team has multiple players who have hit women!

2003-Jason White "led" OU to title game after getting destroyed by K-state and then was stomped by LSU.

2004- AU played and beat 5 top 10 teams. I do think OU gets a raw deal that year due to natty game which for some reason makes that SC team invisible even though they almost lost 4 games. AU has one game all year in the 4th qtr and that was the defending national Champs. We obliterated the SEC that season.

If USC had beaten Oklahoma 28-24 instead of 55-19, no one would be talking about '04 Auburn. The only reason why it remains a discussion in SEC circles is because of how the Sooners got run out of the stadium that night. The fact of the matter is, USC and Oklahoma began the season #1 and #2 respectively. They finished their seasons undefeated. Had Auburn not disappointed so epically in 2003, they might have been able to sneak into the national championship picture in 2004.

That year was bitter sweet as an Auburn fan. I do believe had USC/Auburn played in the NC game, it would've been a great game.

LSU won the National Championship in 1962, following the victory over Texas in the Cotton Bowl. Look it up

USC 2004 would have laid 50+ on AU

Considering the AP awarded before bowls in 1962...

We're not talking AP. It was conferred by the respected Berryman-QPRS polling system.

If bowl games had mattered as much then as they do now, there's a decent chance Alabama wins that game against Texas. But, let's be honest here, Namath scored on third and goal as well as fourth and goal. The refs cheated us out of that one.

Damn its the old: "I didn't kill her but if I did it was self defense."

Namath scored

The final should have been a 24-21 Alabama victory.
