Petrino has never cared about defense anyways. His motto has always been to outscore your opponent, defense be damned

He cared enough to pay Grantham 1.4 million dollars a year and have top 20 defenses his entire time at Louisville. That's one of the top assistant salaries in the country.

Of course it is if you're a Gamecock fan...I can see you wanting to flush that rich history of mediocracy down the toilet.

Painful, painful times these days for the Gamecock nation.

We'll see how Grantham does without UGA and Charlie Strong players.

He may do great but either way he's a piece of crap, he's basically blacklisted from the NFL after his Cowboys time.

so the defensive stats posted by grantham's defense aren't stats?

All river did was use excuses for why the stats arent' so bad. I can absolutely guarnatee you if I started a thread saying "UGA went 8-5 in 2013 but if murray and our RBs and WRs didn't get hurt we would have won 11 games" everyone would laugh and say "well, they happened, as did the 5 losses".

Spin it however you want...us UGA fans saw every game grantham coached here for 4 years, you've seen maybe like 2 or 3. We know what we're talking about.

Most of the stats are in Grantham's favor, but okay.

No.
We aren't trying to say you guys are tards for hiring him. He probably is a good hire for MSU.

We are just trying to warn you beforehand that his defenses will get torched if the other team has a qb with a brain pulse.

There was a reason why most Georgia fans weren't upset when he left for Louisville, he'll most of us wanted him to get the axe after 2013.

But doesn't it seem odd to you that he's taking lateral moves going from UGA-Louisville- MSU.

He's going to worse programs over his coaching tenure. That should be a red flag.

I don't mind being warned. I'm just going to call out some of the bullshite that has gone on in this thread. I realize he has some deficiencies, but the folks saying he's horrible/sucks/etc., is just stupid cause he's obviously fielded some really good defenses except for one season when he lost 12 players with starting experience (from a top 5 defense) and the offense limped through games.

So much so that the Raiders tried to hire him as the Defensive Coordinator?

I can't think of many places in the country that are "happy" with their defensive coordinator. Mainly because people think that they should have shut down defenses the same way that teams had in the 90s before spread offenses were popular. Defenses are going to give up points in this age of college football. All of the rules are geared towards helping the offense. You have to compare defenses against other defenses today, not the ones from days past. Grantham is a very good DC in today's college football environment. He just finished 3 years with defenses ranked in the top 20 in the country and he fields defenses that force a lot of turnovers. Those are very important stats.

The Raiders made a two-year contract offer to Todd Grantham to be their defensive coordinator, reports NFL Network.

L'ville countered.

We will have no excuses, but their defense did. We get to go up against an Ed Orgeron lead program for the next couple of years. That's about as much as we can hope for.
