or we could just wait for the next winter storm to hit the north, and deal with constant news coverage of how bad that is.

i would expect northeners to know the difference between snow and ice also

Absolutely. I had family on my Mom's side in Paragould, AK and Springfield, MO and often spent summers and Christmas holidays in both places. Hot as hell and crazy cold.

The yankees are the ones stuck in traffic in ATL, looking around at each other, saying "Southerners don't know how to drive!" while all of the actual southerners are at home playing with their kids in the snow because they had enough sense to call into work when there was a WINTER STORM WARNING issued the night before.

Can we compare apples to apples?

Just a week ago, the NYC was caught off guard by a surprise storm that left the city snarled in traffic and citizens bitching to the new mayor that their streets weren't plowed soon enough.

Sound familiar, Yankees?

I'm in North Carolina right now. After having lived in Michigan for 10 years, it's actually pretty hilarious to watch how my people handle conditions that would be considered a "good day" in upstate Michigan in late January. I didn't even bother shoveling the driveway when it was only covered with the amount of snow that has paralyzed this entire region.

I'm going to be moving here for a while soon, though, because I can seriously use a break from all the snow and ice.

yeah no, these are two completely different circumstances

I don't see why. 2 nasty storms that struck places totally unprepared for them.

What we can compare. The South gets a snowstorm and people get displaced/hurt/killed, we do not deal with snowstorms on a regular basis like the North. On the flipside, when the North gets major heatwave people are displaced/hurt/killed. To us Texans who bake at 100+ degrees throughout the Summer are just bamboozled by this. Have these people not heard of AC???

Seriously. You'd be surprised at how lacking AC is in some parts of the Deep North.

What are you talking about?

An ice storm in the south is extremely rare, like a hurricane in New York is. I'm sorry you can't understand this.

Are northerners really saying anything of substance? I live up north and have not heard anyone say anything.

Remind me to search for photos of cars flipped over in a ditch on the Mass Pike whenever the next winter storm rolls through Yankee land.

Oddly, or not, it was the southerners in my office that were able to make it to work today. Typical of the north, all talk.

A girl from GA told me how crazy it is down there. Beyond that I don't think anybody in the heart of Yankeetown, USA (Chicago) knows or cares.
