paul d left LSU and coached at army and uscjr and he is in the hall of fame.

saban is 1 of 3 coaches LSU says has a title so he will be in the hall of fame at LSU when he is done coaching.

all the wah wah he is at bama shite is fricking stupid.

I agree with this. Saban's record here compares very favorably with Dietzel's. Both won a national championship. Both led LSU to two wins in current BCS Bowls (Saban 2 Sugar wins and Dietzel a Sugar win and an Orange win.) Saban has a significantly higher win percentage (.750 vs. .630) and more wins total over five seasons than Dietzel over seven. That last statistic is skewed somewhat because we played more games each season under Saban but it's still noteworthy.

If Dietzel is in our Hall of Fame, Saban should be there too. But only after he leaves Alabama (and the SEC entirely) and only after Les Miles is inducted. I think that's reasonable.

48-16 at LSU including 28-12 in SEC play with a National title. He was only there a few years, but that's a better coaching record than Mike Archer and Gerry DiNardo, so yes.

LSU was pretty pedestrian in the years leading up to his hire. He elevated the program to where it is today and Miles has kept it up.

You should honor him in this way.

UK still has Pitino's jersey hanging in Rupp Arena. He earned it while he was there regardless of what he did afterward.

LSU, and Mark Emmert, brought out the best in saban. Really provided the springboard for his career.

Above avg. coach at MSU, floundering in big brothers' shadow.

Saban knows it, and if it slips his mind, his wife reminds him.

saban will have LSU in his HOF.

Is this a serious question? He will, without a doubt.

Is Paul Dietzel in the LSU hall of fame?

If so LSU will eventually have to make room for Saban, since he was by far LSU's greatest coach, and the standard that all future LSU coaches have and will be held too.

I agree it could happen but it will have to be a long time after he is retired. It. It comes down to the awkwardness of him coaching at a school from the same division as the school that is honoring him. Would be weird as hell. Dietzel coached at USCe and army. Quite different from someone who coached at BAMA and beat us for a title. Would be a really strange ceremony

He should be in the Hall of Fame, it's not even a question.

If they honestly think Miles is better what do they have to back that up?

If you just look at what Miles did at LSU compared to what Saban did at LSU, Miles is the better coach.

5 yrs at one school is not enough to put him in the HOF, my opinion. As for Nicky being LSU's greatest coach, he gets major props for taking LSU from average to above average. However, he lost 3 games a yr for each yr he was here except for one, more than a few times losing games that LSU should have never lost. At least three times losing games on the last play of the game thru blown coverage by his DB's, his speciality. He won one game over a very average UK team by virtue of the BlueGrass Miracle. Props for winning the NC once & the SEC once ( I mite stand corrected on this ). CLM has a higher LSU winning percentage. He's won the NC & SEC. He's never lost to UAB, ULM, Iowa St, or a very average one man team in Eli led O.Miss. But bottom line, to me, is 5 yrs does not qualify him for our best ever, thus, he's not entitled to being in LSU's HOF. Mix in all the anti bama bias & his personality and he's facing an uphill battle. Just my opinion as an old timer.

Saban will be in the LSU HOF eventually...If he leaves Bama tomorrow. I would be in favor of honoring him for what he did while he was here. It would be tough, but the man did the job he was hired to do at both places and gave us the "ship" we all wanted

frick him. I no longer thank him for what he did for our program. If they put him in our HofF I hope someone pisses on his portrait/statue/bust.

Exactly. Coach Mac was almost literally run out of town & I've never seen an OC ripped & cursed like Scooter Pervis was as Mac's. If you think Jimbo was cursed, you should have been around in those days. "Toss sweep right. Toss sweep left. QB pass. Punt".......sound like familar criticisms? Yet Coach Mac won 70% of his games at LSU, a percentage that was not matched by any coach who was here for over 4 yrs till CLM's era.
