This could be the year that forces a change. If UF tanks and USC/UT go 0-whatever in the conference, then you have to address it. No real argument for AU/UA/LSU/TAMU to kill each other while UGA has basically a preseason before the playoffs.

If I'm king for a day and could overrule NCAA CCG reqs, we reduce the conference size, increase conf games, kill divisions and let two best teams play for SEC title with highest position in CFP poll being last tie breaker.

I have thought this ever since they brought in Missouri and Texas A&M. Missouri should be in the west and Auburn in the east.

Agree. No divisions, 9 conference games. There is no other way to make it "fair."

It is simple:
Auburn to East
Mizzou to West

Better cross-division permanents:
Auburn vs Bama
Georgia vs LSU
Florida vs Texas A&M
Tennessee vs Arkansas
S Carolina vs Miss State
Kentucky vs Mizzou
Vandy vs Ole Miss

Add 9th SEC game (and ban FCS opponents) so teams play rotating cross-division teams more often -- only 2-year break between rotating back on schedules for home & home. With that faster rotation, Bama vs Tennessee will occur in 50% of their seasons. Every SEC player will play against every cross-division team at least once.

I know we all joke, but TAMU really has taken UTs spot.

Agree. Flip Auburn and Missouri.

Go to 9 game schedule. Have two permanent cross division rivals so TSIO and IB stay in tact.

The other 5 teams are on a rotating 10 year cycle H-H every 5 years.

1-6
2-7
3-8
4-9
5-10

So you would play each team every five years and over a 10 year period twice but not back to back.

The other three games would be one P5, one G5 and one cream puff for HC or two P5’s and a cream puff for HC.

Dump divisions, create 4 teams pods who always play each other, and rotate everyone else. Best two records go to the SEC title game.

I read that as Alabama & Tn.. My mistake.

However, the other factor kicks in: the SEC WILL NOT put teams from the same state in seperate divisions. Therefore, wherever Auburn goes, so does Alabma; wherever Vandy goes, so does TN., & wherever Miss. goes, so does MSU.

Not to mention TN is further east than Vandy, so.....

However, we DO have the Mizz. "east" situation.....

4 teams pods
The pod Strength of schedule balance or, rather imbalance, would still be a point of contention for most. They are a great idea for sports where a single loss is not as dramatic to postseason goals.

Why you move Bama and Auburn to the east and all the rivalries stay in tact. No more permanent cross division rivalries. Just rotate west dcross division opponents every year.

That then leaves LSU to rule the West each year. It also puts 5 of the top 6 in the same division.

Think that'll fly?

Nope - read the thread to see reasons that WON'T be done.

Who moves to the West? It is the same problem, but then, the East would be overloaded with a 2 team fight between aTm and LSU for the West every year.

Except the SEC WILL NOT put 2 teams from the same state in diff. divisions factor stops Ala./Aub. & Tn./Vandy from splitting.

& you know nobody's going to end TSIO, IB, nor DSOR.

It's early. Every team still has a chance to win their division, except for Vandy. Only one conference game has been played.

& no divisions require more tiebreakers due to lack of common opponents - is that fair?

Not to mention 9 games means that somebody 1/2 will have 4 H while the other half have 5 H. How do you propose that if there are "no divisions"?

The other 5 teams are on a rotating 10 year cycle H-H every 5 years.

1-6
2-7
3-8
4-9
5-10

& how do you factor that: 1H, 2A, 3H, 4A, 5H, 1A, 2H, 3A, 4H, 5A? Would love to see your schedule for this.
