Coach O's philosophy isn't this unknown "Trojan horse". Anyone who moderately follows college football should have a pretty good idea of what's going on in Baton Rouge.

He's a great recruiter and an average at best head coach. He's going to try and bring in the best coaches and talent possible. Coach O is only as good as his coordinators and roster are.

I think we'll be just fine as long as Aranda is at LSU. I expect Canada to be at least pretty good. History shows that a great LSU defense and a shitty, predictable offense is good enough to have them at least in the mix. An elite defense coupled with at least a pretty good offense is exciting to say the least.

Once our coordinators part ways...well...that's a whole different story. At least I have faith that the roster should be loaded.

Meh. You could barely beat an 8 win LSU team with a Tight end's coach calling all the plays.

While Alabama will be our toughest challenge, LSU isn't greatly overmatched.

We did the same thing when we hired Saban and Miles. Turned out pretty fricking good for us.

People think Orgeron is a terrible coach based solely off his time at Ole Miss. name me one successful coach at Ole Miss in the last 40 years that didn't end up getting them in a shite ton of trouble with the NCAA. Freeze has been the only mildly successful coach there and you see what it took just to get that moderate amount of success.

I'm not saying Orgeron is going to be the next big name coach. I'm just saying he has experience and we really don't know what he could do with a real program and not that half assed peewee program they got running at Ole Miss.

The same number y'all had. If it was t for the bullshite unsportsmanlike conduct being levied against both team (even though it was a Bama player that started it) we were well within field goal range and the only TD Bama got was because of obvious holding. Now I'm not calling ref bias here, shite happens in games, but those are the facts.

LSU couldn't best Bama with a 18yo freshman QB at home. Their chance on the road next year looks grim.

Until LSU puts together an offensive line that can hold up against the Bama pass rush and can generate some push in the run game it will be hard for them to win.

That's really where they have lost the game at the last few years.

Whether you like him or not, there was a definite change in their demeanor after Miles was fired. They looked motivated and the offense was the best its been in a few years.

Hard to generate push in the o line when the other team knows you can't throw the ball too well because you don't fricking try to diversify your offense. Qb play at lsu has struggled as well. Etling showed improvement last year and I hope he continues that trend. You cant be one dimensional against saban...that was our problem.

Agree 1000 times with this, and it really is that simple. They knew exactly how to shut down the offense.

...We tease you guys because about him being the DL coach because you guys spammed the Rant for months about LSU legendary coaching search.
All the 14 and 15 year olds spammed.

Alums/Adults knew exactly what we had sitting on the Kings Throne inside the LSU Athletic Administration building and knew what was coming.

Turned out about as well as it possibly could have with "Canaranda" in place. It was a coups getting McDonald from USC to come coach RB's as well............

O has to grow on a few LSU fans but overall Most think he is doing a great job so far. I cant WAIT to see our O under Canada's direction.

You are reading this correctly:

Our FB's are working with the TE's....I formation is over!

The O hire was made on the cheap. Period. He's a garbage HC.

Uhh, that's 100% fair.

I expect any coach at LSU to average 10 win seasons at least. We have the in-state talent, resources, infrastructure, publicity with NFL, etc. to be a consistently elite program.

When you run a zone run blocking scheme and can't complete a pass, its easy to blame the OL.

Defenses would put 8 in the box and run downhill on them every play without fear of a downfield pass being completed.

quote:

Landry said the scout told him that based on film breakdown, Fournette faced 8-man-plus defenders in the box on 67 percent of his 616 college running attempts. That included 22 percent against 9-plus defenders in the box. "The average for this many (8-plus) defenders is 31 percent, so the attention placed on Fournette by defenses is unusually strong and reflective of LSU's unimaginative and poor passing attack," Landry wrote. "In essence, due to the offense he played in, Fournette was game planned for twice as much as any other back in the college game, making his productivity that much more impressive."

"I always liked playing LSU because you could just lineup and play them," Alabama defensive end Jonathan Allen told me last December at the ESPN College Football Awards in Atlanta. "They never changed anything."

We have to spread it out to the sidelines and be able to complete passes in all 3 levels. We have lived on a two-option system: run up the middle OR play action and throw it 50 yards downfield.
