That could be it, but why not do it at Mizzou? Public support for gays is higher than all but one other southern state. College campuses are very liberal. Mizzou would have been perfect to out himself.

You sure seem obsessed with penis and gay men and fornicating with men

I'm a marketing guy--I think it was an excellent (if risky) move

I'm a marketing/pr girl, I thought it was risky. If his ultimate goal is to play football, this was a risky move. The only thing that could be a positive about the timing is that it's far enough ahead of the draft to give teams time to get used to the idea. Otherwise, it's generally agreed that his draft stock, and therefore money, will go down. And while he may get some endorsements down the road, they may not be top flight deals. Later in the process would have been better for many reasons - after the combine, anyway. Unless he always wants to be known as the gay football player, instead of just as a football player, this wasn't a great strategy, IMO. All depends on his goals.

herp derp

saying stupid shite is stupid means you gay

the dude figured he would be outed during the draft evaluation process and decided it was better to out himself than have somebody else do it for him.

why does it have to be a nefarious plan to become a gay media darling?

have you ever even been good friend with people that eventually came out?

they don't do that shite lightly.

I disagree but I'm not marketing expert.

News stories like this last a bit longer than usual for obvious reasons. As soon as this nears that tail end of interesting, it'll be brought back up over and over during the combine and ultimately at the draft. This story has a longer shelf life than usual and ESPN will take advantage of every available minute.

The gay lovers are being sought out now sadly. Wait until they are found and paid for their stories. Very risky.

Here's the whole story of how the coming out happened, the logistics, agents (all you need to know about how it was set up and why it happened when it did): LINK

Yes the timing was intentional but not for the reasons anyone supposes and the time frame was affected by the fact that everyone already knew and so they had to speed things up or someone would've broken the story before they got to break it on his terms. Sam wanted to come out from the start. It wasn't a matter of marketing but a matter of what Sam wanted to do.

I'm just saying it's possible. I have no intimate knowledge of the Sam outing and I'm glad for that.

Are you saying that it's not in the realm of possibility that it was purposeful as regard to the timing?

Marketing folks do this all the time for celebs and wannabe celebs.

Sounds legit.

Tim Tebow showed him the way, the truth and the light.

Yeah, once he told his teammates at Mizzou it was definitely going to come out whether he wanted it to or not.

From the article.

So his timing was disrupted. So what? It had been his idea anyway. Screams marketing ploy or a desire to become a gay icon.

Doing it after a good combine performance means that any drop in his draft stock would be directly related to his coming out. If he now goes to the combine and has a mediocre to poor performance that would lend credence to not drafting him. All the pressure at the combine will be on his shoulders instead of the teams during the draft.

If he's doing this to draw attention to himself in order to add to his draft stock then by doing it now he has also added a ton of pressure to the weight he was already carrying.

My opinion of the marketing play possibility had nothing to do with the draft at all. Quite the opposite actually.

... or he had been asked by scouts and he was going to get "outted" on there terms and wanted to do it on his. I'd have done the same thing. If it benefits him, great for him.

It's 2014. The country really needs to put this whole "gay"/"lesbian" thing behind us, accept it, and move the frick one. This whole conversation has gone on for too long. If you don't like it, GREAT, don't be gay/lesbian.

LOL @ this shite(no pun intended).. The country is going to hell in a hand basket.. Now, if you don't accept rectum wrecking, and butt pirating as normal, there is something wrong with you.. It is what is it. Men were made to be attracted to women. Cased closed, end of discussion.. Anything other than that is unnatural and disgusting...

We can only speculate about Sam's motives here.

Having said that, the upside of being the first openly gay NFL prospect I'm sure was not lost on his agent. Agents think they can turn anything into a positive.

So, if this is your opinion, does the opposite hold true, that women were only made to be attracted to men? That you hold to the one man-one woman standard? Can one assume you avoid girl-on-girl porn? And find lesbianism equally disgusting and unnatural? Just curious...
