I'm of the belief that this helps his draft stock.

I think he was on the borderline to not get drafted, this changes everything. He must get drafted now, no matter what.

I'm not sure how it helps his draft stock unless you are assuming that some team is going to take a chance just for the publicity.

It stand to reason that if you out yourself prior to the draft of the biggest sport in America, you are timing it that way for a reason

Which could be for any number of reasons that aren't about being a marketing ploy.

teams can now talk to their players to see if they'll be comfortable sharing a locker room with a gay teamate. He wants to bring his boyfriend along with him like many players do with their spouses/family to meet with teams. I'm just spitballing ideas. Or he could just have decided that now was the best time for him. I don't know his though process.

His jersey sales may set records as it's likely that even the most lisping, limp wristed, Atlantan will buy his jersey in pink no matter which team pays him to parade around the field. The right to lay with another man crowd will pay him thousands of dollars to hear how hard it was to be gay in those drab uniforms with so little bright colors.

I tried to refrain from the overuse of gay. I didn't say ****, queer, butt pirate or any other of the more awful things to call men who like men.

I kept it pretty tame I thought. Typing gay over and over is boring.

so basically you just proved Richard Sherman's argument about certain words, phrases, and notions being code for less acceptable slurs towards certain minorities.

congrats dumb arse.

Teams talking to players about gay teamate - I don't buy that one because it would assume that Sam has the NFL best interest at heart - doubtbul

Taking boyfriend to games - I can see that

Best time for him - I suppose but the media circus is a lot of pressure for such a young man - I just think the timing was for publicity more than anything. Of course, that's just my opinion.

Doctor Royal Cola - simmer down - we can efight later if you want.

In your opinion, can someone use terms like "rump ranger" and "fruitcake" and not hate gay people?

this

OP is a fricking idiot

First, there's a difference between not hiding something and making a national production out the event. Also, don't you just love the way Sam supporters are so tolerant of opposing opinions. To me this has been the most telling aspect of the gay rights movement in general. Most of the supporters seem to be at least as intolerant as the people they condemn for being intolerant.

I thought this place had auto correct and gay corrected to Aggy automatically.

I've not typed gay here before I don't believe.

You think he's got the NFL's best interest in mind?

It's just my opinion.

I've not said that it's a bad thing if it was a ploy. In fact, I said it was brilliant IF it was.

It's just my opinion.

You're not one of the parades of people that called into talk radio claiming, you don't understand why he had to go public with it, it's not like player x had a presser saying 'hey i'm straight,' are you?

First one to do something, it does take a level of bravery, surely you can see that?
