Looks a lot like TideFans around late 2001, early 2002 before the reality of the NCAA sanctions set in.

Ridgeland - Tunsil kept changing the amount and apparently the request went over the NCAA-sanctioned amount of $500. That's why Tunsil was told to see Barney.

Please show m where it's within NCAA guidelines to pay a player's mother's utility bills monthly...regardless of amount.

Good try, but why would Ole Miss pay utility bills of family members? This spin has been proposed, but no one has shown this was in compliance with NCAA rules. If your explanation is correct, why was Ole Miss caught by surprise and wasn't sure the texts were genuine at first? Why the need to delay the hearing this summer if this explanation has merit? It should be really simple to show.

And didn't Barney deny any payment took place anyway after the texts became public? If it was just a matter of paying within the $500 limit, why deny any payment occurred at all.

The more ridiculous part that no one is talking about is the rent. Isn't room and board covered in the scholarship? Why would he be texting the assistant AD about it?

And all of this back-and-forth about what the money was for and who did/said what completely ignores the fact that he admitted to improper benefits on national television.

One of their posters just wrote "Do we deserve anything more than what we have self imposed? Hell no."

They really need a reality check

Well he did say in answer to the question that he did take money from Ole Miss, but I am sure he was just talking about he took money in the form of a scholarship. Is that the right spin?

I'd have to say, yeah.

He's right. Tunsil won't testify, so all they will go in will be the texts and the video OF HIM ADMITTING TAKING MONEY!

LOL at a mediocre team still sucking and now becoming a bottom feeder even after wholesale cheating

UA got busted for Antonio Langham signing a napkin for an agent in the celebratory aftermath of the national title game vs Miami. It's totally arbitrary.

Yeah but Stallings basically told the NCAA to go frick themselves, which turned out to be not a great idea.

I'm not sure I understand this either. As I understood it, we paid tunsil like 300k to sign with us. Stole him right out from under Georgia's payment at the last minute.. They're poor I guess.

So we paid him buckets beyond buckets of cash to sign with us and still had to meet a monthly quota to keep him? That's crazy. He really did take a pay cut to go to the NFL.

And with all that money we gave him, he couldn't even save $305 to pay bills? Dude needs someone to manage his money.

I hate the 24/7 boards. Most homer boards I've seen. I can barely stomach the Florida ones, so much blind homerism it makes me actually argue AGAINST MY OWN TEAM. Arghm

Tunsil will definitely need someone reliable to manage his money or he will up like too many ex-NFL players, broke and on the street. He is undoubtedly a talented player, but I hope he has good financial advice and follows it. I suspect he may not have the background, knowledge or experience to do it on his own. Hint: stay away from starting a restaurant, buying a car dealership, and other similar high risk investments. Too many neophytes have been ruined by both ventures,
