The thing with Collins as the nickle back. When he came into the game he took the outside and Mills rotated to the inside on a slot receiver. Collins never really played inside.
My mistake. Must be remembering wrong then.

Most tiger fans would disagree about the amount of production by Eugene and Martin when they were on the field. They both accounted well for themselves.
Not from what I've seen and heard from other LSU fans. Not to mention neither was a great recruit.

Eh.
In the A&M, Bama, Auburn, USCe, Florida, and Clemson games, I wasn't impressed with Martin or Eugene, and they're two guys I want to like. Either way, they'll only get better.

Against bama Martin was #4 on the team in total tackles. That usually means a player was around the ball.
Eugene was the defensive adjustment made by Chief to shut down manziel in the a&m game. Once tigers went to dime package it was a totally different defense. Among DBs in that game Martin was tied for second most solo tackles by a DB.
Against auburn Eugene had HALF of LSU's four sacks.

I'm not saying they're bad, I'm just saying in LSU's biggest games, they didn't really stick out like some of the past really good LSU DBs.

Or for a DB they were beaten and gave up a catch. (Not saying that was the case though)

Because the secret to Manziel is to not blitz him and let him sit back and overthink.

Mo Claiborne and Tyrann Mathiue were both 3*s when they committed to LSU. Tigers were Mathieu's only D1 offer if I remember correctly. I know for sure saban passed on him when he camped out there.
Freshman All American CB, Jalen Mills was a 3* recruit in the '12 class.

Well against LSU's two biggest west opponents they each had their moments.
Martin was one of the leading tacklers Vs bama and Eugene was the defensive adjustment that shut down the aggies offense.
Remember also, one was the sixth DB on the field and the other was the third safety.

I understand all that but they were much more talented regardless of *.

Considering mccarron didn't break the centry mark in passing yards till bama's FINAL DRIVE of the game I really don't think he made many tackles after giving up a completion.
If that's all it takes to shut down the aggie offense why were gators and tigers the ONLY two to get it done?

Bama did a much better job in the 2nd half. Obviously it's more complicated than that.

This.
He was making tackles on Lacy and Yeldon, who were both consistently getting to the second level. Lacy had 7.55 YPC and Yeldon had 6.91.
We should have just pounded it.

A&M put up 9 points in the last three quarters. Considering all the talk before the game about how practice was bad and the team didn't have their heads in the right place, I don't think many people were that surprised to see A&M come out and be effective.

OB plays ball like the shifty kid on the playground that may or may not be afraid to get hit. Jarvis is just a flat out man, he's going to have a huge year

Martin is very good imo, i have no idea how any knowledgeable lsu fan would say differently when looking at his whole body of work, he just happens to be younger and was behind the countries top safety. Minter is the hardest piece to replace, but i had the same concern when sheppard left, and chavis fixed that, lol. Martin was his high schools qb and a stud all around sports athlete, like many other lsu dbs in the past. You confuse me talking then backtracking on star importance, get it together.

Hey Aggies - Is Ricky Sealy Jones going to be a factor?
If he's anything close to Mike Evans, we should be fine.
Evans, if you recall, didn't even play football until his junior year of high school.

The A&M receivers and TE's are: 6'6 (Clear) 6'6 (Seals-Jones) 6'5 (Evans) 6'4 (Hicks) 6'4 (Pope) 6'3 (Parker) 6'2 (Walker) 6'0 (Larue) 6'0 (Kennedy) 5'11 (Tabuyo) 5'11 (Holmes) 5'10 (Gonzalez) 5'8 (Williams)
Manziel is 6'0 and not Drew Brees in the pocket. I see bat-downs and picks this year.

I love how the gumps really think this is a good point. I bet they get so frustrated.

I don't see your point. I'm making a point that we handled JFF after the first quarter, defensively. The offense didn't play up to par and lost us the game.
